Mood:
Stressed-out!

This weekend has been fairly busy and productive so far. On Friday I received confirmation that I'll be starting work on Monday as planned, so that's good to know! As soon as I found out, I started reading through the piles of information and forms I need to have done by Monday.

We ran some errands this morning, one of which was finding out about mortgages through our bank. Apparently the mortgages are handled through a separate branch which was closed today, and in fact is only open until five on weekdays! I'm sure we can find out all we need to know over the phone, but it'll be difficult if we need to drop by their office, especially since I'll be working so far away.

On the way back home, we came across a small park with an entrance barely visible from the road. The only reason we knew about it was because Carrie often noticed it while driving past on her way to work. It turned out to be a nice arboretum with tonnes of huge old trees and lawn throughout. We walked through there, and I could easily imagine sitting up against a tree and reading a book. If we visit again, I'll have to take my camera along--it was very picturesque.

I finally got through all the paperwork early in the afternoon, then finished editing a story I needed to work on before I sent it out again.

We spent the rest of the afternoon watching home improvement and house-hunting shows on cable (there's a whole channel of the stuff!), and after dinner we played a little of the Top Spin demo on the XBox before watching another episode (The Lonely) of The Twilight Zone.

I also found time to do some more work on my latest story, which has been neglected since the 13th. The middle section is still a bit hazy, but I have the ending in mind already, so it's just a matter of slogging through to the end. I can't see this one being finished over the weekend, although I may be able to get it done before next weekend.

My story per week goal fell by the wayside shortly before Wiscon and I haven't had much luck meeting that goal since. I'm way behind on the critique group Weekly Word stories, but I could soon catch up by churning out some flash fiction in short order ;) I don't know about the chances of that happening, however.

It has been a turbulent time lately, and I'm sure it will become even worse once I start work, and again when we start house-hunting. I'll just have to do what I can to fit in some writing here and there. If I could establish a stable writing routine, that'd work wonders for my productivity.
