After two days at the new day job, I'm beginning to recall how tiring these things can be. There's a lot of stuff to learn and I'm still waiting for a lot of paper shuffling to occur before I can really get stuck into it, but it seems to be going well so far.

The thing that is really hitting me hard right now is the driving each day. It takes me 1.5 hrs or more each way, and that leaves me with just enough time in the evening to eat, catch up on email, and spend time with Carrie, before I need to get to bed and do it again the next day.

Actually, I think there might be an extra half an hour or so spare, which thus far I've used to write some critiques and take care of some fish tank maintenance (it never ends!).

Having said all that, I can hardly complain--I have a job! Being unemployed was enormously depressing and emotionally draining, having to keep looking for work and staying positive in an economy that was (and still is) pretty stagnant.

Meanwhile I'll just have to do what I can to find time to write, just like everyone else :)

We're looking into how much of a mortgage we could qualify for at the moment, in the hope that we can move closer to where I work and cut down on the travel time. We're also well and truly sick of living in an apartment, but we'll have to put up with it for at least another couple of months (longer, more likely).

Exciting times indeed :)
