More sad news in an email from my parents today... a childhood friend in Australia passed away this week after living with muscular dystrophy his entire life. He was only 28.

I didn't keep in contact after starting high school, although I reckon I might've seen him in Adelaide once while I was on the bus on the way home from uni or work, pushing himself along the footpath in a wheelchair.

He was a fun kid, always cracking jokes and running around like a maniac with the rest of us at recess and lunchtimes. We had a lot of fun times, hanging out at school, mucking around with our computers, and having a blast on the year 6 school camp. I lost contact after he moved a few years later, but I often wondered what he was getting up to and how he was faring.

I just don't know what else to say. It really makes you think about mortality when someone so young goes like that, especially coming so soon after that nasty accident the other week.
