Overall, the past week has been quite eventful, in a good way. On second thought, with one exception: the snow. We had about a foot of snow from Friday night through Saturday afternoon, and 2 feet drifts of the stuff in the driveway! (picture an Arctic Sahara) The snowblower proved its worth again, although it was hard going with the snow blowing straight in my face (it was windy) and having to push the thing into walls of snow. Let's hope it doesn't melt too quickly! As bad as it was, I pity those poor folks on the east coast.

The new windows seem to have come good and are either clear or have a little condensation, depending on the outside temperature. Not like the icing-up we had before.

We had a plumber come in bright and early this morning to fix the drain in the basement, and as we suspected, there would've been no way we could've fixed it. The main pipe was almost completely clogged. Pouring Liquid Plumber down probably just made the blockage worse! Oh well. It's fixed now, but these plumbers ain't cheap. Funnily enough the guy lives on the same street as us, which was convenient.

The weekend was rather subdued, considering we spent half of it cooped up indoors waiting for the snow storm to pass. We did venture out for dinner and shopping on Saturday night though, so the cabin fever didn't get too bad. I also watched an episode of the World at War on DVD (I've been meaning to finish watching the series for ages), and hung another set of blinds in the kitten's bedroom.

Today Carrie's car crapped out, so we're hoping the repairs aren't too costly. We also got the new bed and futon this evening, although I still need to put the futon together and clear out one of the finished rooms in the basement to make room for the old bed. The new one seems pretty comfortable :)

And the biggest surprise was that I got started on a new story last Thursday! It seems to be going rather well so far. Hopefully I'll get this one wrapped up by the end of the week, in time to start another one on Friday (which I have off). I'm trying hard to take a more 'Zen' approach to writing, just letting the words flow onto the page and not thinking about whether they're crap, or whether I'll have a hope in hell of selling what I'm writing (serenity now!). I reckon that might have been half my problem. That, and being depressed at not being able to write when I felt like I should be. I think I'd also forgotten how much fun it can be :) All I need to focus on now is getting close approximations to my ideas on paper, and I can worry about polishing later.

Enough rambling--it's time to write!
