After spotting a great deal on a 140 hr Series 2 TiVo DVR, I promptly ordered the thing, and it arrived last Thursday. Since then I've had a ball setting up Season Pass recordings and finding tonnes of movies I've wanted to see. Despite the claims that it holds 140 hours of recordings, the actual recording time is much less if you want decent quality. Meanwhile I'm frantically trying to watch the stuff it has recorded in order to make room for new recordings! At least we might get some value out of our cable from now on....

Among other things, I've caught up with Simpsons and Futurama episodes missed over the last few years, and I also watched The Hulk. The latter is an appallingly bad movie, which had me wondering why it was ever made. With all the superhero movies being made these days, I guess it stands to reason that at least a few of those will be duds :) Also watched the Incredibles on DVD, and it still holds up pretty well since we saw it in the theatre.

Today the USB network adapter I'd ordered with the TiVo arrived, so I disconnected the TiVo from the phone line and hooked it up to the network. Now we can get the programming and software updates online, and view photos from the PC on the living room TV. Unfortunately it doesn't support AAC music yet, so all those songs I converted for use with the iPod can't play through it. I'm also waiting on the TiVoToGo software update, which will allow viewing on the PC and burning to DVD.

It wasn't all square-eyed TV watching this weekend, though. Carrie's parents were in town, which is always quite fun. We ate out a lot, took some drives around the neighbourhood, fixed our basement loo, watched camcorder movies taken in Hawaii, and tried out our fireplace for the first time, among other things.

Unfortunately I didn't have much time this weekend for writing, so this month's writing goals probably won't get met. I'm still stewing over the old story rework, but I might put that on hold while I work on another new one. Hopefully I can finish it before my parents and little brother arrive in mid-April for a 3 week vacation! It'll be nice to see them again--it has been over 2 years now. Time certainly flies!
