So much for doing just 100 words! Tonight I managed 787, and in the process I realized this story is going to be a bit longer than the quick flash piece I had originally envisioned it as.

I've got a better feel for the protagonist's background now, spending most of the evening's word count on fleshing this out. Some of it will have to be distributed earlier in the story to make certain things clearer, but I'll worry about that when I'm done and it's time for editing.

Now I think I'll go to bed and catch up on some much-needed sleep!
