We didn't get back from the wedding until well after midnight, so I was wondering if I'd be able to meet the word quota for tonight. Technically I didn't, but given that I wrote something before heading off to bed, I'd say that counts ;)

I didn't have much luck continuing the 'magic box' story earlier today. I just didn't have a clear enough picture of what would happen next, so I gave that up after several false starts. That's yet another tale to ponder some more.

Given the time of year, I thought it appropriate to write a Halloween story, although I didn't want to write a cliched tale of Halloween horror. I spent about half an hour trying to figure out what to write, when a clear image popped into my head. That was enough to get me started, although I didn't really know where it would lead. After a few paragraphs, a theme became clear and a possible plot soon followed. I wrote a modest 254 words, since I didn't particularly feel like staying up all night to continue the tale, and we've got a 6+ hour drive ahead of us in the morning! It's best to pace myself, I think.

I just realized this morning that I've been at this a shade over 2 weeks now, writing almost 8000 words during that time. That's not too bad considering this time of year is usually when my Muse goes into hibernation and doesn't emerge again until around February! I'll be surprised and happy if I can keep this up :)
