I had a real hard time getting any writing done this evening, since I was so tired and couldn't think of where to take the Halloween story next. I needed time to ponder, but it was getting late and I didn't have the time.

I ended up writing a 150 word opening for a war story (not the one I was working on before), based on a story challenge theme in the critique group last year. It didn't turn out too bad, but again, I have no idea where it would go.

I reckon this will be an ongoing challenge with the daily writing quota, since I'm so focused on getting words down for stories rather than just writing quick scenes or vignettes. Part of the problem is not allowing enough time to figure out where any given story will go, and the other is trying to juggle too many stories at once. I'm afraid that if I go down the vignette route, that's all I'll have to show for my efforts!

In any case, I've got my fingers crossed that I'll come up with something for the Halloween tale by tomorrow, at which point the rest of it should pretty much write itself :)
