One last look back at the 2005 resolutions before we crack open the champagne and celebrate the arrival of 2006! The full text of my 2005 resolutions is here.
So, how did I do?
1. Get back into shape - did pretty damn good! I'm doing regular workouts in our basement gym, doing
weights, and also cardio on the treadmill. I'm close to benching my own bodyweight, and I managed to do a few 5 mile runs, although I typically run 2-3 due to time concerns. Looks good for 2006 :)
2. Do plenty of travelling - not bad at all. We travelled throughout Illinois in May, with trips to Chicago and Springfield, went to Wiscon in May, stayed at a ski lodge in northern Michigan and rode bikes around Mackinac Island, stayed at a B&B in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, and made several other trips around Illinois and Michigan. Alas, finances and available time off prevented a trip to Australia, and that'll most likely have to wait until 2007 at the earliest.
3. Write a novel! Write 20 new stories! - Can't blame me for being ambitious! While I did do better than 2004 as far as the word and story tally, I didn't quite reach the target of 20 new stories or complete a novel. Maybe next year ;) I do think the 100 words a day thing could be promising for 2006, though....
4. Read more - didn't read much this year, unfortunately. What spare time I had was spent writing, and I got bogged down in a collection of Lovecraft stories for much of the year, interspersed with the occasional other novel or non-fiction reading. I also had a lot of planning/entertaining to do while my parents were here for 3 weeks, and had some immigration paperwork to attend to. Oh well.
