2006-01-20 1:40 PM Books on a lazy Friday Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (0) I've got today off, so I should really be working on the new story. Instead I spent the morning sleeping in and puttering around online. There's always this afternoon :) Meanwhile, I thought I'd do an entry on books I've read so far this year. The first one was Jarhead, which was fairly well done. I also think the movie captured the spirit of the novel, along with most of the key events. They seem to complement each other well. Next up was Stephen King's The Colorado Kid, which I finished earlier this week. It was a quick read, but not entirely satisfying. I get the point he was trying to make, but I didn't think there was any real payoff for reading it. Not your typical SK yarn. Hopefully Cell (due out next Tuesday) will make up for it. Zombies and cellphones have got to be a winning combination! I wonder if there's a hidden subtext there.... I'm currently working my way through Polyphony 4. Thus far I've found Alex Irvine's yarn quite amusing, and Mikal Trimm's story was pretty good. That reminds me, I need to work on a sub for Polyphony 6 pretty soon!
