Carn, write! a writing journal 514630 Curiosities served |
2007-04-21 12:01 AM Remembrance Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Sad Read/Post Comments (1) It has been a tough week. I've been wandering around in a daze ever since news of the tragedy on Monday. When I found out here that Jamie Bishop was among the victims, it hit me like a tonne of bricks. I've been struggling with what to write here since then. I could hardly be more eloquent than Jason's touching tribute, or Mike's inspiring post, but I decided I should write about my memories of him regardless. Jamie was a frequent commenter on my Journalscape journal in the early days, and I enjoyed reading and posting comments on his journal also. He was a talented artist, had a knack for relating funny stories, and led a fascinating life. He just seemed like an all-around cool bloke, and it definitely sounded like we had a lot in common. Jamie's journal entries became less frequent after he and his wife bought a house (not long after us), and he didn't have as much time to blog. I know how it goes. Still, we found the time to leave notes on each other's journals, and it was always great to hear from him again and see what he'd been up to lately. I'd hoped to meet him some day, but now, sadly, I'll never get the chance. My prayers are with his family and friends, and I hope the memory of his joyous life will provide some solace to them in their time of grief. Jamie was truly a remarkable man.
