Almost Crawling

Allex is on the verge of crawling. It's adorable watching him work up to it. I'll put a toy in front of him, just out of reach, to encourage him. Using his knees, he puts his but in the air, but his arms stay put - pushing his face into the floor. Then, he puts his knees back down and pushes way up off the floor with his arms. He is just about to put the two together. Until then, he rolls back and forth - I'm often amazed at how far he gets doing that.

His hand to eye coordination is really improving. He grabs everything he can get his hands on. He'll pick something up, look at it, put it in his other hand, look at it again. Then he'll taste it, pull it away and look at it. He'll wave it around slowly, looking at it.

His vocabulary of sounds is becoming quite varied. He is putting two and three sounds together at a time. He chatters them when he's relaxed and content.

I've been feeding him rice cereal once a day for a week now. He is doing great with it. He swallows more than he spits out now. Who knew we have to learn how to chew and swallow? *shrugs shoulders* I never thought about it before. It is absolutely amazing how much we learn from infancy. You can just see those neurons firing in their little, yet fully equipped, adorable heads. And you can tell when they are ready to learn the next thing. They want to move on to the next thing. Allex wants to know everything. He pays attention to everything. When he's seen one thing long enough, he wants to see something else new.
