The Waiting Game

They told me between 12 noon and 6 p.m., or so, for the chair delivery.

I am here waiting. It's early yet, about 9:50 a.m. but I've gotten up and dressed, had my cuppa, even washed my hair, in anticipation of the BIG MOMENT.

Do we really believe my chair will make its appearance here today?

I'm hopeful. I'm optimistic this time. But I'm never 100% sure until the event has actually happened, and I am looking back on it.

Paul said he will be here to help but he has other things on his to-do list that he is getting done first.

ADDENDUM: It arrived - and early! An hour early! READ ALL ABOUT IT HERE

Just now I'm watching the documentary Winged Migration which is absolutely beautiful. I actually think I own this in VCR form from long ago. I know I've seen it before but it was on TV and while I'm here waiting for the delivery truck, this is very nicely taking my mind off the waiting part of this morning. I suppose I could be doing something constructive around here, but that's one of the perks of being retired now -- those things can wait til later, or tomorrow, or next week for that matter. I am a procrastinator at heart I have learned.

Oh, watching these birds flying around the world, with beautiful spiritual music playing in the background, is just the way to wile away a few hours here. The music that goes along with this show reminds me of the soundtrack to "The Lion in Winter." (It's called "The Crossing" in The Winged Migration which you can hear by scrolling down at the Amazon page). In fact, I may dig out that record (yes, vinyl record) and play it when this show is over.

Some of them fly 12,500 miles to the Arctic Circle during their year.

The views taken from above the flock of "Arctic terns" are incredible. What I don't understand is how they keep the noise of the airplane's engine out of the movie. Are the people IN an airplane? Or are they in some kind of a glider going alongside the birds in the sky?

Funny how things lead into other things, and without any prior plans made, a day can roll along quite nicely from one subject to another, each leading on to some new or relived experience.

That's all for now. I'll be back at some point today or tomorrow to report on all-things-chair for you. I know you are just waiting there on pins and needles!

Cheers,

Bex

I think I could turn and live awhile with the animals...
They are so placid and self-contained,
I stand and look at them sometimes half the day long.

They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied... not one is demented with the mania of owning things,
Not one kneels to another nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago,
Not one is respectable or industrious over the whole earth.
