Coconut Oil To The Rescue!

popcornmaker0001

Let's talk oil.

Specifically, coconut oil.

It's funny how things "present" themselves to us in life. One thing that seems totally unrelated to something else gets pulled along into our consciousness and poof! it's part of our lives and we weren't even looking for it before. Well, not consciously.

That's what happened with me and coconut oil. It wedged itself into my life when I wasn't even looking.

There I was...looking through the Presto web site for recipes for my new Presto pressure cooker. I stumbled onto their "other products" and saw the Presto Popcorn maker. I love popcorn, but I've been unhappy with the kind you stick in the microwave with ingredients already in it. I wanted to make my own from scratch and add what I want, not what they want. So I looked up this little item on amazon and found it was only about $16 or so. When I did a little investigating on the subject of making your own popcorn, I found that the preferred oil to use was organic coconut oil. I then investigated more and learned a whole array of things about this "miracle oil" that I'd never heard of before.

(Note: Here is a link to a fabulous page on this wonderful stuff which is also down at the bottom section of my page which shows up with each entry).

Anyway, I gathered the information and found they also have popcorn salt that is very very fine; never heard of that before either. I ordered everything I needed and got it all within a few days. I have made 2 batches of popcorn (only 1/3rd cup of unpopped corn for a big bowlful) and wow - it was great!

But the best part of all this was my discovery of the ORGANIC COCONUT OIL.

It might be a good idea to have a look at this short video from the Health Lady about coconut oil.

I won't belabor the point here on this page, but read the attached link. You will be amazed what this stuff can do. I am living proof about some of it. I put some on my hands, like handcream, and in 2 days some spots have all but disappeared and my sun blisters have just about gone, too. It's a miracle oil, for sure. I am giving it to the dogs, too. I put a glop in my coffee in the morning and no it is not gross like you would think. Oil in your coffee? No, it's nice actually. It has a faint coconut smell but not overpowering. And there is other coconut oil that has even less of an odor (which I have ordered in a 1 gallon size and which hasn't yet arrived).

I realized very quickly after I started using this stuff that I was going to need a LOT more than the two small jars of it I had gotten already.

So if you don't believe me, do a search for yourself.

So that's my offering to you for today. Actually, I have another entry I may do today, as well, with some good photos I've just been given by a customer of Paul's. So look for that in a while.
