Daily Photo Shoot - Day 4

The photo-shoot subject for today, 04 February 2013, is:

Signs of Winter around Crow Cottage and Other Stuff

We really haven't had much of a "winter" here on the East Coast. Some inland areas have, but not us on the coastline. So any little hint of snow is welcomed just to give this February a flavour of winter.

And moving inside (boy was it EVER cold out there taking those photos above! I'm surprised the shutter on the camera would work!), some of our very favourite photographs, taken by the late great Frank Meadow Sutcliffe, of Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.

We first discovered Sutcliffe's photographic works during an early trip to Yorkshire. As always, we spent time in the old fishing town of Whitby, our favourite place on earth, and came across the Sutcliffe Gallery.

Below is a photo I took, I believe in 2002, while visiting that superb shop.

Shopping at the Sutcliffe Gallery in Whitby, England, 2002

It's a treasure trove of prints of his many old photographs where you can get all sizes and shapes of the prints, from small postcard sizes up to enlargements. There are books also showing a lot of his works, and I think we have all four books. Haven't seen any of the DVDs, but that's something to think about down the road.

Close-up you can see inside the shop, all the various prints available for purchase. Heaven!

Just for fun, click here for a slideshow of his works. He's the best!

So that's my Photo Shoot for today, 04 February 2013. Stay warm everyone. Hope you enjoyed the Super Bowl more than we did, if you were so inclined to watch. We found another alternative show that was on at the same time called the "Puppy Super Bowl" which held our interest a lot better than the real game did. I saw a bit of Beyonce singing and she was lackluster at best and way too much sexualizing the whole event. My radio talk show host panned her for his entire show saying they need to rethink the half-time entertainment to be more related to the game of football than just a sideshow of skin and sexual innuendoes. Not for a family audience at all. Big mistake. Oh well. Never mind. Sorry the 49ers didn't win, but they ALMOST did... but almost doesn't count!

Cheers,

Bex

"The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog...

He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world...

When all other friends desert, he remains."
