Daily Photo Shoot - Day 5

The photo-shoot subject for today, 05 February, 2013, is:

Things Around Here That Are Waiting To Get Done!

These are just a few of the items of work that need to get done around here. I limited myself to the first floor only today but there are many more upstairs not to mention the basement, oh my. We won't go there. I figured that if I document some of these things here, and just get thoroughly embarrassed by putting these photos out there for all to see, maybe one or two of them will get fixed, repaired, put away, or just left...who knows?

(Note: Hovering your cursor over a photo will give you the description of it, and clicking on a photo will enlarge it.)

Stuffed handmade Christmas tree atop hutch - and it's February! Christmas tree still atop the hutch, not to mention cobwebs keeping it company.

Brass Lobster Doorknocker which collects cobwebs that I don't normally see. We call this guy "Alf" - it's a James Herriot plaster wall hanging showing a border collie going thru a stile in a stone wall in Yorkshire - it's been hanging in our stairway area since 1987. I don't remember ever dusting it. Ugh.

My walker that I had to buy after I fell down the side deck stairs and hurt my body so I could barely walk. It doesn't have a home in our home except here in the dining room. Under the covering is my sewing machine and our ice cream maker... not exactly things you want in your dining room.

Stuff in the plastic container under the buffet, as well as on top of it, that I just don't have room for anywhere else. Also, the red large sized pizza envelope that I use to keep delivered pizzas hot when Paul isn't here at the time they are delivered This dresser near the back (side) door gets junkier and junkier as time goes on... but Marilyn is there to make the junk a little more appealing to the eye.

Christmas lights that got put there before Xmas and never got put away. Covers that go on the sofa, just washed but not put on the sofa yet again.

The Air Conditioning unit we took out of the window in the living room in the fall, but it's supposed to go upstairs and we are going to buy a new one for down here... so why is it still here?

My needlepoint project that keeps calling to me to pick it up and do more work on it. Mismatched curtains covering things in the bathroom. This room is a total ugly mess.

Old bathroom lighting, really old and out of date...like they were there when we bought the house in 1986... this room needs updating badly. When Paul put in a new window in the bathroom, he never finished off under the casing/molding area so it's just waiting for us to redo the whole room. It looks awful.

The photos below aren't really things I need to do, but I'm putting them in for my friend, Bill D. in Yorkshire just because we were talking about them earlier:

Three Sutcliffe photos framed. The 4th Sutcliffe photo - in the breakfast room.

So there you have it, cobwebs and all. I don't mind my little house/cottage when it's just been cleaned, but that little luxury doesn't happen all that much around here. Mind you (and this is aimed at friend Mary...) we plan to do a bit of cleaning before you come over tomorrow, but we still can't guarantee that if you wear black trousers, you won't go home with dog furs all over them!

Let's face it, we are country folk living in a city world! I'd feel more at home back in the day when they took their monthly bath on the first Saturday of every month and called themselves clean...

Cheers,

Bex

"The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog...

He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world...

When all other friends desert, he remains."
