2013-02-06 2:59 PM Daily Photo Shoot - Day 6 The Daily Photo Shoot for today, February 6, 2013 is: Today was the day Friend Mary came to visit. We used to be coworkers at the transcription place where we worked, and every day when I'd go there to get my work and drop off the prior day's work, there was Mary, running the office single-handedly, and I'd drop my bags, pull up a rolling office chair, and unload onto Mary. When I was done, she'd unload her news onto me, and thus we spent a nice little time together, most every day. We kept each other caught up on our respective lives... we are kindred spirits. Now that we are both retired, (Mary does WAY more stuff than I do and even is working part-time!), we never see each other except every few months when she makes the trek over here to Crow Cottage to visit. So that was what happened today. I should have taken more pictures for you, but there was too much chattering going on, playing her my Kasey Chambers CDs, explaining all about them, the showing of baby (grands) pictures, and of course the exchanging of Christmas gifts... ..for me, the yummiest smelling hand cream AND a gorgeous blue-green dish both from Stonewall Kitchen down Maine. ...and for Mary, a book on the life of Josiah Wedgewood (yes, that Wedgewood) that takes place in England, America, and back to England... Smile Mary! Paul was here at first but left after a while. The constant yattering on and on I think gave him the idea that he needed to do some errands. Unfortunately, the next part of the visit was not recorded on camera. Oh well. We made ice cream with our new ice cream maker. Mary is thinking of getting one and wanted to see how it worked. And oh boy howdy..... it worked great because I was trying out a new kind of ice cream today, Coffee Ice Cream. I just made the usual vanilla flavour from the recipe booklet but added about a cup, or less, of strong (more like concentrated) black coffee that I'd made up the night before and had kept cold in the fridge. O.M.G. Fab. We put a spoonful of it onto a peanut butter/oatmeal/chocolate chip (& 2 other kinds of chips) cookie and that was lunch. Sinful, I know. All the time, we had the company of my two best kitchen assistants. Later, after Mary had left, we all went upstairs to upload these few Photo Shoot pictures... Now I'm resting up from all the activity of the day. The good thing about these few and far between visits is that I get Paul to do some housecleaning for me, if he's here that day, and now I have a clean-ish looking house to enjoy for a few hours - until the wrecking team of Frick and Frack can start leaving furs on top of every single surface in the house again! Cheers, Bex (hugs to Mary...it was SO good to see you again!)
