2006-07-08 5:45 PM An act of selfishness Today, I committed an act of selfishness. I spent 7 hours getting an excellent aerobic workout, I got a free lunch and a free t-shirt, I met some nice people, and I got a couple things for my apartment at no cost to myself other than a gallon of gas and some dirty clothes.
I spent the day cleaning out the water and mud filled basement of a flood victim for the Salvation Army. I worked about 7 hours, hauling up dirty stuff from an eighty year old woman's home and putting it out to the curb. In addition to the free stuff, and the intense aerobic workout, I also get to feel good about myself, and I have probably earned some respect and admiration from my peers. If I am in a totally selfish mood, I may do this again tomorrow. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
