Video Games:The Backlash XXXIV

It seems the media backlash about mainstream videogames continues, as documented here. I think my favorite quote has to be, "You just have to follow Jesus and pick up little crosses for points."

This reminds me of a Simpsons episode that has Bart visiting Rod and Todd, and they are playing a Christian videogame where they "shoot" the heathens to convert them to Christianity. At one point, Rod says, "Oh, you winged him, now he's a Unitarian."

Though much of what passes for news is often unvarnished editorializing, there is often some redeeming value to understanding a viewpoint outside of ourselves. However, it seems to grow more and more outlandish every day. How many Americans view those with differing views and lifestyle choices as the enemy? How much of this can be blamed on the constant bombardment of Fox News, CNN, and the like?

And the culture wars will continue. This is an interesting, unintentionally humorous companion to the outcry over the "Hot Coffee" hack in Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas. Apparently video gamers are not all socially-inept degenerates planning the next violent act society. Some of us like to follow Jesus and pick up little crosses for points, too.
