2005-11-10 10:43 AM Airshow week Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (1) Well, it's time for the annual homecoming airshow here aboard NAS Pensacola, and with a window three stories up facing the flightline, I get to look out the window and watch various "acts" perform. As I write this, there is a pair of dueling N2S Stearman biplanes... the old "yellow peril" World War II training aircraft... they look so slow compared to the screaming jet fighters that have been flying the past few days, but there is a lyricism to the way they seem to float through the air- stalling manuevers are cool to watch too. And the sound of the old radial prop engines is so cool, too. It's easy to imagine hearing that around here back in the late 30s and 40s when training was going on throughout the year.
It's busy aboard base, but slow here at the magazine, as the latest issue came out last week, so I've got a bit of time to slow down and look out the window a bit... when I'm not working on other mundane tasks. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
