I was over at Songbird's place this morning, admiring her Summer Reading List. I don't know how to put such a fancy thing on my low-rent blog, but here is a list of the pile of books that sit on my chair-side table this morning (in the order they are stacked):

Friedman's Fables by famed rabbi and Systems Theorist Edwin Friedman.

Generation to Generation Classic tome on congregational realtionships by same rabbi as above.

The Word Before The Powers by Charles Campbell. This one came highly recommended by a friend.

The Wounding and Healing of Desire by Wendy Farley. Ditto, same friend.

The Politics of Jesus by John Howard Yoder. I saw this one on the shelf of my seminary bookstore every year. Finally bought it.

Gathered Before God by Jane Rogers Vann. Worship- related book #579 for me, or so it feels.

Disobedience by Jane Hamilton. A local author, whose novels I really enjoy.

Garlic and Sapphires by Ruth Reichl. After reading her column in Gourmet every month, I finally gave in.

Children Playing Before A Statue of Hercules A collection of essays compiled by David Sedaris.

Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner. What...you thought I'd have no chick-lit?
