All I know is I've been putting off writing partly because I've been too busy doing stuff and partly because I've been thinking to much about how I was gonna put it all down. I was going to regale everyone with notes documenting my increasing insanity during my hellacious drive up, give day-to-day updates on what I've been doing and I may still do that, but I suspect it'll have to wait until I get back. I'm not done here, so I don't really want to look back on it yet. Though I suppose there's obviously something I want to talk about. I've been having a wonderful time up here, which some of you already know. Oregon, in general, is an odd bird and it needs work. I think their desire to encrouage upon the land only so much has translated into some kind of minimalist thinking that makes it a little difficult to get around. Certain streets just seem to assume you know where the white line is and while that may be the case, it isn't wise. Also, the street signs aren't done well. They're too small, for starters, and green as a background doesn't stand out well enough (especially compared to, say, blue). The only place I've seen worse street signs is in Berkeley, where they seem to think black letters on a tan background is a good idea, despite the fact you can't read the sign until it's two feet in front of you (though, despite that, I actually rather like Berkeley). And I won't even get started on all the fuckin' one-way streets they have out here. Aiyeesh! But all that's really minor. I doubt it would bug me all that much if I dealt with it all the time. Besides, I've had plenty of other stuff to take up my time. So much, in fact, that I haven't even missed cable TV. So far, anyway. What have I been doing with my time, you ask? Well, let's see, acclimating, freezing, driving, dining, partying, and meeting new cool folk. Oh, and sex. Yes, a fair bit of sex. Poor girl; I think I tired her out. Anyway...I've got other things to get to. More later, when I've the time. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
