So, last night was King Arthur at the El Capitan with Thor2, Thea and Rico. Due to the ESPY's or some fucking thing over at H&H, we hadda cut around the block and couldn't park where we wanted, but we made it to the flick on time.

So, the pros of King Arthur was that it looked good, I liked the characters, the story and the costumes. All that stuff.

The cons were, basically, the movie wasn't long enough (ten minutes over 2 hours and it felt like it was only 90) and didn't develop the heroes enough. Sure, I got the gist of Bors, Lancelot, and Arthur, but what about the rest? Tristan, Gawain, Galahad, Dagonet; we didn't spend enough time with these fuckers to be able to keep straight in my head who was who. Hell, now that I think of it, we barely got to know Arthur's history until the end and even that wasn't as satisfying as it could've been. Now, if they'd gone and re-told the same Arthurian stuff everyone knew, this wouldn't have been a big deal because we'd have that in the back of our minds, but we've got a whole new Arthur who's someone we don't know at all (though those of us who watched the History Channel special have a better idea than those who didn't) and we really aren't given enough time with him or his people because the plot has to advance.

I'm really hoping there's a longer version of this movie when the DVD hits, 'cause I really liked it.
