First, he performed an act I thought impossible—he fell asleep in the swimming pool. The water is not that warm. We were doing our last swim class activity, singing “If you are happy and you know it” with blowing bubbles and splashing water, when I realized his eyes were closed, not just blinked closed, really closed. I kept bouncing him around still not believing when he started to snore. It’s an outdoor pool. There’s a lot of noise, and presumably a lot of activity, and he fell asleep.

Then he had his first two-word phrase today, “My book!” Closely followed by the five-word phrase, “Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine!” He performed this linguistic feat while standing on his tiptoes and batting his sister’s arm. We’re so proud.
