The coffee shop moved all the tables onto the sidewalk, set up a little jazz group and displayed strange pictures of big lipped fish. The play space had photos of babies, obviously. The artist always chats with us on her way to the coffee shop with her twins, so we were psyched to see her. We ran into a classmate of Rose's near the big purple sunsets in the church, and hung with her family through the fire engines, yes you can sit in the seat and turn on the flashing lights, the chachka store, no you can't touch anything, the card store, no you can't touch anything, and the glasses store, no you can't touch anything.

It was the annual artwalk where local artists display their art in local stores. The art is ok, but I love seeing my neighbors out roaming the streets. David was hard work because of the you can't touch anything aspect, and it was near bedtime and he had to be carried for an hour. But he stayed reasonably cheerful. It's not like he was interested in the collages or photos of irises.

We've decided to call it the cheese walk because every store we went into had sliced cheese as part of their treat offerings, and our kids, who had to forgo the gluten cookies on display, ate cheese up and down the street.
