I got that good hike feeling--heart pumping, sweaty, and breathing in the gorgeous smell of forest.

We had Rose, David, me, and Mom. Our friends from school: Tia (Rose's age), Liana (six), and their mom, Cecile. And friends from my old job Lisa and Ben (4.5). This was Ben's first hike ever. I felt like we should say a shehekiyanu.

My only mistake was going fifteen minutes too long before lunch. I kept expecting the end of the hike around the next corner. David and Ben held hands or took turns leading. It was very sweet. Rose and Tia hung out and now want several play dates. Even when David was far ahead and other folks were far behind, I felt relaxed and safe. It was lovely.
