Still getting used to the new blog surroundings, checking out some of the neighbors in the area - I like what they've done with the place. I on the other hand have just moved in and the furniture still hasn't arrived....

Anyhow, thought I'd add a couple thoughts before turning in.

A couple things to expect on Power Animal:

Laker rants - You're probably gonna see a lot of this. Sorry. I know most of you out there hate the Lake show, even comparing them to the dreaded Yanks...more (MUCH more) on that fallacy later.

...It's just that we're in the middle of a rare moment in history where I get to watch the GM of my team, let's just anonymously call him 'Mitch,' smash the Lakers into the ground, stomp on them a couple of times, douse them in kerosine, and then light them on fire. It's been a fun couple of weeks - thanks, 'Mitch!'

Dodger rants - Hey, as I write the Dodgers are in first and you know what that means...Dodger fans everywhere are nervous! Every year we claim to be smarter, to be above our hopes - to know it's only a matter of sweet time before they cave. We'll see. I guess we're the opposite of Sox or Cubs fans, who each year amazingly call it 'their year.' Amazing. ...How's Steve Bartman doing, btw??

Also, I plan to give periodic updates on my crusade to convert my girlfriend into a legit sports fan (should be a long saga). Believe me, suggestions are more than welcome - I'm already on my last leg and I've barely even begun this new blog. Last night she changed the channel *literally* ...*LITERALLY* on Gagne's last pitch to close out the Astros. It was horrifying. I'm still in recovery.

But this is far from just a sports blog.

Political rants - 'tis the season, right? In fact, I'm ordering a new one of those great new 'W' stickers!

Round, stylish, and to the point, baby. I don't see the need to plaster my bumper with all sorts of lefty, greeny sloagans (or vice versa) - I'm sorry, but let's face it: People just see that and instantly assume you're on medication or something. However...as a progressive-minded, truth seeking skeptical liberal, I will show patience and tolerance to all you adorable right wingers out there. Not only will I respect your political views, based on inherited wealth, class division, intolerance, and oppression though they may be, but I will even respect your right to not get fried in a chair! Hey, I choose to go the way of enlightened self interest. >:p

Alright, maybe that last part was a bit divisive, I'll admit. How about something we can all agree on during this ultra-bitter election season?
