The have been a lot of mixed feelings about this if you read around the blogosphere. Emotions are high with the whole Nick Berg thing going on too, and the memory of killed contractors hasn’t yet faded.

Prison abuse, and other abuses of power, happens when you put soldiers into a war zone like this. They aren’t like local police officers; they just don’t have the tools to do everything perfectly. If it’s not prisoner abuse then its civilian casualties or property destruction ect. Don’t be surprised that things get messy sometimes.

Everyone that supported this war (as I did, and still do) should have expected this, and worse to happen.

We shouldn’t compare what Saddam did or didn’t do to the current situation, and we shouldn’t give a thought to terrorists who would defend their actions because of this scandal. We should punish those that were involved, especially those higher up in the chain of command.

We need to keep working toward June 30th and we need to keep working toward elections. I think this war was in part about US credibility. And I think it will be important that we do what we say, not just in using force but in pulling back as well…
