I know a lot of people out there, particularly Europeans, are supportive of some kind of international court that could try war criminals and such. And these people are mad at us because the US hasn't been too keen on the idea and wants exemptions for our military personnel and leaders. Why should the US be immune?

It's a fair question I think. If the leaders of any country are guilty of authorizing war crimes like genocide, extermination, and rape then I think that they should be brought to justice in the international community.

Now, this isn't a pro or anti-Iraq war rant, but rather a call for the ICC to threaten to indict the leaders of Sudan unless they stop their campaign of genocide in the region of Darfur. Thousands are being forced from their homes, and are being murdered, raped, and starved to death by the government supported Janjaweed militia. There have been very few protests in Europe. A threat that should be backed-up with mobilized troops from our buddies like France and Germany, that are ready to secure a cease-fire with force if nessessary.

Hey, if they do that and save maybe 100,000 - 300,000 lives or more, I would support a call to indict and punish the 5 or so US officers responsible for the shit that went down at Abu Ghraib. That seems like a fair compromise to me...
