2002-11-07 8:24 AM Opinions Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Sleepy Read/Post Comments (2) Wow, I never thought I would get so many comments from my last entry. Not that I'm complaining - it's good that people are thinking and responding. What you all have to understand is that this is purely my opinion. I'm a way left wing (pro-abortion, pro-gay rights, etc.) Democrat and so I see a lot of evil in the Republican party. I'm not saying they're all bad - and I'm not saying that making some of the generalizations that I do is a good thing - I'm just saying what's in my head. A couple of comments to the things people said: - Angry Little Asian Boy: Don't even get me started on the whole "model minority" thing. I could rant about that for days. In fact, I did in my Race and the Law class. A few people in there actually thought that it was a good thing. That is until the rest of the class (myself included) went off on how ANY stereotype can hurt, especially that one. I also don't get the Hollywood thing. Never have, never will. For some odd reason a lot of pop culture seems to like to show that it's fine for a white man to be with an Asian girl, but then they turn around and portray a lot of Asian men as effeminate and rarely ever put them with a white woman. Then again, Hollywood has a long way to go when it comes to different races in popular culture. *le sigh* - Nobody: Never said that my rant wasn't bigoted against white right wing extremist Christian males. It was. And I know that's not a good thing - however I'm so sick and tired of seeing this country chase its tail. Whenever it looks like progress is being made, it seems we then suddenly take two steps back. My rants will usually be filled with various generalizations, that's why they're rants. I know logically that not all Republican white males are evil (hell, I'm going to marry one), but it does seem to me that a lot of problems stem from the right wing extremists. And 9 times out of 10 those are white Christian males. But that's because those are the people who are most often in power. Now don't get me wrong, I love it when you all comment. Especially when people get going about politics. However, just always keep in mind that the opinions expressed herein are just that - opinions. Okay, on to mundane things. Yesterday I spent the day running around like a chicken with its head cut off. While Rob was at work I had to get a lot of school things and the laundry done. Then when he got home we headed to Linens N Things to give one more shot at registering there. This time everything seemed to work. Yay! And so now we're registered at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and at Linens N Things. After running around the store we headed out to dinner. Rob took me out for a meal at Vitello's. That place is incredible - it's without a doubt the best Italian restaurant out there. If you're ever in the Valley you should check it out. Today should be interesting, I'm teaching my Race and the Law class. I'll let you all know how it goes. ----------
