Five Questions From Kenny

These five questions are from Kenny. I'm more than willing to answer anyone else's as well. The more the merrier. Instructions for getting your five questions from me are at the bottom.

----------

1) As a lawyer, what is the biggest law you think we should do away with and why?

There are plenty of laws out there that bother me (anti-drug laws, the death penalty, how federal sentencing for criminal acts is pretty much a science and can be charted out but state sentencing is all over the place, etc.), but there is one major one that has me up in a huff at the moment.

The ban against partial birth abortions really needs to either be done away with completely or at least changed significantly. The way it's worded pretty much bans *any* abortion that comes after the first trimester (and over 50% of them do). It also has no exception for mothers whose lives are in peril. If a woman is in the second or third trimester and finds out that she will not survive labor, she has no choice whether she lives or dies. That's just not right.

2) Suddenly, you can speak with Weasels and all Weasels in the world are loyal to you. What do you do first?

Round up about fifty of them. Give them as much caffeine as their little weasel bodies can hold. Then let them loose in the career services center at Pepperdine.

After that? Take over the world.

3) What movie has had the most influence on your life?

"The Crow". It wasn't the movie itself that had an influence on me, but the circumstances surrounding it. A few days before Brendan Lee died on the set he was interviewed. I saw that interview and in it he said that you needed to enjoy life and everything that comes with it now. You never know if this is the last full moon you'll see, or the last time you hear a particular song you love, or the last time you'll have a fond memory of your childhood. Knowing that he died a few days after saying that kind of makes you think. I don't know if this changed me in any way, but it definitely made me think about things a lot.

4) Did you always want to be a lawyer? If so, when did you first know and why? If not, what did you want to be when you were a child?

Hell no. A lawyer was the last thing I wanted to be, especially because my Dad is one. I never really "wanted" to be a lawyer. Film school had done nothing for me job wise and I really wanted a real career. So, for the hell of it I took the LSAT. I did well and got into law school and the next thing I knew I was on the path to becoming a lawyer. I still think that above even being a lawyer I would like to be a politician some day (first female president has a nice ring to it).

When I was a child there were many things I wanted to be. An actress, a director, a writer, an astronaut, a pilot, and a vet were the main ones. During Junior High I really wanted to be an actress which is why I ended up at an arts high school. During high school I found my passion for writing and wanted to be a writer / director in film. This is what I also wanted in college (I majored in screenwriting) and for a few years after that. However, I didn't find any work and I burned out on the writing pretty quickly. Working your ass off for nothing grates on you.

If I could be anything right now? I would love to be a vet. I regret not having pursued that path back in college.

5) Did you ever take part in a scene at a Cam game that actually made you think about stuff in the real world and changed you?

I wish I could say that I had some big realization, but I didn't. I have always kept gaming and the real world very separate. My characters are usually nothing like me (which is why they're fun to play) and I keep a very firm line up between fantasy and reality. I never took gaming that seriously. It was really fun, but it was never anything more than a game.

That is not to say that being in the Cam didn't change me. It's just that there was never a scene in it which effected me. However, being in the Cam helped me a lot with my social skills and made me open up to people a bit more. Autarkis (what there was before the Cam in LA) is also where I met my husband. So, participating in LARPs has effected my life, but no particular in character scene ever has.
