I'm An Evil Judge!

Mood:
Proud of being a "brutal" judge.

Last night was D&D and everyone (except for Al was there). We did our usual for D&D - ordered in Chinese food, socialized, and gamed. I'm really digging the game, Rob is an excellent DM.

Carrie spent the night at our place and the three of us (Rob, Carrie, and myself) got up around 8:30am this morning. Carrie and I had agreed to judge another moot court thing at Pepperdine. But this time it wasn't just any moot court competition ... it was the first years. All of the first year law students are forced to do a moot court competition as one of their Legal Research and Writing projects. Mwuhahahaha. First years are so much easier to scare than the Dalsimer participants.

We got there a bit early so that we could have lunch and chill out a bit before our rounds started. There were five rounds for the day, but Carrie and I were only doing the noon and the 1:30 ones.

The noon round had Carrie, Shannon, and myself as the judges. Shannon was the evil judge from hell - it was so cool! She really slammed some of their arguments and even asked questions and mixed up the facts to throw them off guard and see if they would notice. Luckily for them, they all got through it without freaking out. They even thanked the three of us at the end for not being too harsh on them. Heh.

The participants of the 1:30 round weren't so lucky. Just Carrie and I were the judges on that one. We were planning on being nice, really we were, but some of them were just SO BAD. Plus, one guy shoved his foot in his mouth by arguing that an eleven year old kid should start her own youth basketball league (because she was banned from one because of being blind in one eye). Carrie and I went with it and when we asked him point blank if he thought the solution to this case was having the eleven year old child go all over the state and form different basketball leagues he actually said yes. Another guy was just scared as all hell and accidentally started arguing the wrong side. Carrie managed to trap one of them at some point (he had forgotten a crucial fact). When everyone went out in the hallway (including Rob) while Carrie and I deliberated Rob said that they thought we were "brutal". We almost made the two boys start to cry. It was kind of funny. The moot court board member who was in the room with us thought it was hilarious. Rob was entertained. I think all in all Carrie and I had a great time there. First year mandatory moot court is kind of a rite of passage for the law students at Pepperdine and it's not supposed to be easy. It's so much more fun being a judge than it was to be up there. I think I'll be saying yes to any judging Pepperdine wants me to do in the future. I totally dig it.

After our rounds we came back to the apartment and chilled out with Carrie for a bit. Bryce then came to pick her up and Rob and I headed over to the Media City Center mall in Burbank. We had considered seeing a movie, but the line for the one we were interested in (Dawn of the Dead) was very long. We also considered getting manicures and pedicures (I'm in desperate need of both), but the salon was chock full o people. So, we ended up getting dinner and doing some shopping. We got some sandwiches and italian sodas at a place called Kelly's Coffee and Fudge and ate them in the food court. We then looked around in some stores. I made a stop in Lane Bryant and got a t-shirt to sleep in (mine is starting to fall apart), some lounge outfits that can double as workout outfits if need be, and some panties. We also made a stop at Sears and found an amazing deal we couldn't pass up. A king size kitty quilt for only $40. So, we got that as well. We looked around in a few more stores and then headed home.

I know it's still early and all (especially for a Saturday), but we're both on the tired side from getting up early in the morning and doing stuff all day long. Tomorrow I think we're hanging with Berek during the day and then with Berek and Pita at night. We'll see what happens, we still need to call him and go over plans.

HASH(0x890ec54)
You are an onion in a cup. But you knew that
already. You make people cry, but not on
purpose. You're honest. Hey, if you had bad
breath, you'd want someone to tell you. So you
do the same to them. As natural as the truth
feels, and as much as you hate liars, both of
those things might keep you a little bit
seperated form the rest of humanity. Very few
people understand the value of truth. That
distance, sometimes lonliness, is what you have
to live with when you're true to yourself.
