Girlie Day At The Grove

Sunday Rob and I felt like doing a whole lot of nothing. And so we stayed in the house. We watched one of the DVDs we recently bought (Embrace the Darkness), ordered in food, and just did lazy around the house stuff. For what it was, the movie wasn't all that bad.

Monday was very cool. Shannon came over a little before 11am. We talked for a bit and she gave me a belated b-day present (haven't seen her in ages) of an adorable kitty necklace and some raspberry wine. We then headed out. To where I didn't know. She wanted to surprise me. We ended up at Merle Norman. She was planning on having me get a makeover. And while I'm not a big fan of makeup in general, I really could use knowing which colors work and which colors don't. Unfortunately, the place was closed. So we tried to think of what else to do. I had never been to The Grove and so we went there. She lives across the street from it and is there all the time, so I really appreciate her being willing to spend part of the day there. That place is really cool. We grabbed lunch at a yummy Italian restaurant and then looked around some of the shops. I ended up buying a body pouf for myself and some gel gloves (that help to heal severly dry hands) for Rob at Bath and Body Works. While at The Grove, we also looked around the farmer's market area and stopped at a wonderful ice cream place. I got a root beer float. Yum. After walking around for a while in super hot weather (it was probably in the low 90's out) we decided to head elsewhere.

So, we headed to the Media City Center mall over in Burbank for some girlie pampering. We both went to my usual nail salon and got pedicures. She got a light mintish green color (that looked fantastic with her skin tone) and I got a hot pink color. I was in the mood for something bright and hot pink seemed like just the thing. After the pedicures we went into one of the shops and Shannon got a pair of flip flops because the shoes she was wearing were not the kind you wear right after getting your toes done. I also picked up a pair of green flip flops (which were way on sale because the green ones just weren't selling). We then wandered around the mall for a bit and finally headed back to my place.

Rob got home just a few minutes after we did. We opened the raspberry wine (that stuff is amazing) and I gave Shannon a hand with an internet question she had. When we logged off Rob drew the design for her next tattoo. For those of you not in the know, she has a pair of handcuffs tatooed on the inside of one of her ankles (I believe it's the right one). So, she wants to get the handcuff keys tattooed on the other inner ankle. Too cool. So, Rob drew up some really detailed keys. I think his design turned out wonderful. After that Shannon headed out and Rob and I had dinner and had some couples time.

Everything was wonderful until late last night. Then a problem creeped up. I don't want to talk about the problem on here, but let's just say that I ended up in a very bad place. A place I have been close to before, but never fully quite there. I was there last night. Things ended up working themselves out in the end, but I'm still hurt. Right now I'm fluctuating between being hurt and being numb. Time will heal that though. That's all I'm saying in this entry. I debated going into further detail in a private entry, but I haven't decided if I'm going to do that or not. If I do post about it, I don't know when it will be. We'll see.

Today I took my car into the dealer. It needed an oil change and I wanted them to look it over. I'm going on a bit of a road trip in the near future and wanted to make sure it was safe. I also had a sneaking suspicion that something was up with it when I was driving with Rob and Carrie to Pepperdine for the first year moot court competition. I'm so glad I took it in! And I'm so glad that Luther was good to me when I had to drive to Montclair and back last Saturday becasue there was indeed something wrong with him. There was a problem with the transmission. Apparently there was a leak caused by the shrinking of a gasket which was caused by the gasket being stripped. My transmission fluid had been leaking and they said it was rather low. They fixed the problem, put in more fluid, and checked out my transmission. They didn't see anything wrong with it, but they said if it starts to drive weird or do anything unusual to bring it back in because they were worried that the fluid level might have hurt it. They thought it would be okay, but it is under warranty so the sooner I bring it in if there's another problem, the better. I only had to pay for the oil change. The whole transmission thing was still under warranty. Better to happen now than in November when my warranty goes poof.

The loaner car they gave me for the day while my car was in the shop was another one of those RX330's. I sooooo love that car. It's like my Luthor, but had a lot more power behind it and a lot more cool stuff. Whenever down the road I end up getting a new car, it so needs to be one of those.

Currently I'm doing the laundry and catching up on some internet stuff that I didn't have the time to do over the past few days.
