Lamp Hunting

My brain is melted from spending the day job hunting.

Last night Rob and I decided to head out and get a new lamp for the living room. You would think that wouldn't be too hard of a process, right? Wrong. Apparently it's hard these days to find a floor lamp that can take a 300W halogin bulb.

We first headed over to Ikea, which is where I had gotten other lamps in the past. They had nothing of use. The only floor lamps they had took a max 150W regular bulb. With a lamp like that our apartment would be as dark as a cave. So we headed out of Ikea (which was about a fifteen minute process) and Rob called around places. He finally found the type of lamp we wanted being sold at OSH. So, we headed to the Burbank OSH and found their lamps. They're kind of on the cheap side (and we had a hell of a time putting it together), but it was the only place that had halogin lamps any more. We got our lamp and then decided to make a run into Toys R Us. We wanted to see if we could find any cool toy swords (preferably Nerf). Toys R Us sucks ass now and doesn't even carry any Nerf products. So, we went back to the hardware store because Rob knows how to make swords you can use to play fight (without anyone getting hurt) out of PVC pipe, pipe covering, sponge, and duct tape. Should be an interesting project of ours. I wouldn't mind learning how to make one of those.

After our shopping we headed to Burger King for dinner. Then we made a brief stop at the bank so Rob could deposit his b-day checks and headed home. Once we got home we tried to set up the new lamp. It's really kind of crappily made and took us awhile to set up because it kept falling apart. But we finally got it set up and it's working. We have light once more in our living room. Yay! We're going to watch the lamp for a day or two to make sure it works and then throw out our old one. I loved the old one, but it's having some serious issues (like turning on and off on a whim - and being off more than it's on). After dealing with the lamps we watched some TV, did some other various fun things, and passed out.

Today I'm working on the job hunt. Looking online at postings, sending out resumes, etc. I just figure at this point it's just a matter of time before something pans out for me. Tonight I need to do more laundry (sheets and towels). Joy.
