Yesterday was very cool. Rob was pretty much caught up with things at work, and so he decided to play hookey. He picked a good day to skip work because apparently everything was dead around there yesterday. So, he called in sick to work and we headed down to Disneyland.

We left the apartment around 9:30am so that we wouldn't get caught in rush hour traffic. There were a few pockets of slow traffic, but all in all the drive down there went fairly smoothly. We got there in a reasonable amount of time, parked (we have free parking because of our annual pass), and took the tram to the amusement parks.

The first park we hit was California Adventure. And the minute we got there we made our way over to the Tower of Terror. It had just opened up on May 5, and we wanted to check it out. That's one of the reasons we decided to go there on a weekday, on a weekend the line for it would have been insane. We grabbed a "fast pass" for the ride and then noticed that the standby wait was only a half an hour. So, we decided to hit the standby line. The line moved fairly quickly and we were in the "hotel lobby" in about ten minutes. The ride was incredible. For those of you not in the know, it's a 13 story free fall in an elevator. So cool! We dug it and decided to go on it again with our fast passes. After the first time I made a quick call to my Mom and then we used our fast passes and did the ride for a second time. Amusingly enough, the second time around one of the other people on the ride referred to it as the "Tower of Moderate Discomfort". For those of you in the SoCal area, I highly recommend checking this ride out. It is unbelievably cool.

After the Tower of Terror we headed to lunch. There's a burger place that's shaped like an air craft hangar and we decided to eat there. Rob got a burger and I got a chicken sandwich. After lunch we decided to head on Soaring Over California (the super cool glider simulation ride). The predicted wait was 30 minutes, but it was more like an hour. The line went very SLOWLY (but it was still worth the wait).

We then headed into a few of the shops in the park. I got a pin of a ghost Mickey Mouse and Rob bought an autograph book and a pen. He wanted to get some autographs of the various characters around the parks. I thought it was very funny and very cool that he had the balls to ask for their autographs.

After the shops we left California Adventure and headed into Disneyland. There were a bunch of characters in the area where you first go in to the park, and Rob decided to get as many autographs as he could. He ended up getting the fox and the cat from Pinnochio and Tweedledum. Tweedledee and the monkey from The Lion King left before he could stalk them and he felt weird asking the girls in the princess costumes for their autographs. He didn't want to come across as a creepy perv.

We headed into the main part of the park and took the train over to New Orleans Square. The Haunted Mansion was closed (bastards) so we weren't able to get on that. We stopped at one of the restaurants and grabbed a snack and some drinks and then headed over to Pirates. We rode on Pirates twice (the first time Rob fell asleep) and then took the train over to Toon Town.

We roamed around Toon Town for a bit and Rob was able to get the autograph of Chip. Unfortunately, the other characters were in hiding. Rob and I talked for a bit and decided that the next time we were at Disneyland we would go on our fave rides (Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates) and then spend the rest of the day with a new autograph book getting as many character autographs as we could. We would put the book aside and give it to our kid when they're old enough to enjoy Disney movies. Think about it, how cool would it have been when you were a kid to be watching Disney movies and have your parents give you a book with the autographs of the characters in it? So, we need to do that. We also realized that we want to have a baby sometime in the near future. So, we're going to look into high risk pregnancy doctors and I'm going to go see one sometime soon. If there's no way I can safely have a baby, then we'll look into surrogacy or adoption. Either way, we think we're almost ready for a baby. We both want one and I think that Rob would make an incredible daddy.

After Toon Town we headed to Fantasy Land (and on the way there Rob got the autograph of some guy selling lemonade) and grabbed dinner at a Pinnochio themed restaurant there. Rob once again went the burger route and I got pizza and a salad. After dinner we went on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and then made our way out of the park. I had wanted a Mickey head balloon, but they balloon guy said that they had put them away already. The park hadn't even closed yet. Grr. There were no more characters to be found, so we headed out of the park and looked around Downtown Disney for a little while. We checked out the Disney store and Sephora. At Sephora I got some Orange Sherbet scented body wash and some tinted lip balm. We then took the tram back to our car and headed home. Luckily, we left late enough (around 9pm) and didn't hit any bad traffic on the way home.

During our time at Disneyland, Rob and I overheard a few rather bizzare conversations between parents and their children. Rob posted one on his journal, so I'll post the other two on here.

The first one I overheard while in a bathroom in California Adventure. It was between a little girl and her mother who were sharing the same stall. I had to try desperately not to crack up laughing.
Girl: Mommy, I need new undies. The ride made them wet and icky.
Mom: Don't worry about it, they'll dry off soon.
Girl: But I want new undies NOW. I don't want to get girl fungus.
Mom: What?!? You're not going to get that.
Girl: You have fungus there and I don't want it.
Mom: *sigh* That's not fungus, it's hair.
Girl: I don't care. I don't want it. I need clean undies. Now.

The other one I heard between a boy and his mother. They were sitting in the row behind us on Pirates.
Boy: Why is the boat in front of us empty?
Mom: Because, it was filled with bad children who wouldn't stop asking their parents for candy. The pirates killed them all for being bad. They're all dead now.

Yeah. Scary, aren't they?

Today I woke up feeling like complete ass. I think Disneyland took it's toll on me. All my muscles ache (which is the norm for the day after Disneyland). Unfortunately, I also woke up with major stomach problems and a migraine. I stayed in bed until the migraine passed (several hours, pills, and migraine ices later). I still feel tired and sick. I think I'll take it easy over the next few days because I want to be in good condition for this Sunday. If the weather holds and it doesn't get insanely hot out again Rob and I will be making a trip to the Ren Faire with Shannon and Al.
