The Moron Cycle Continues

How hard is it for people to just read instructions on a little piece of paper or listen to what their boss tells them to do and not do? Apparently, it's very difficult for one of the people who works for maintanance in my building.

Last Saturday Rob and I asked for someone from maintanance to come up and take a look at the cable outlet in the living room. When the moron from Adelphia was here, he pulled off a lot of paint and stripped the screws on the plate so it doesn't go back on flush with the wall. We also let them know (as we always do and as are on their permanent instructions for this apartment) that:
1.) They MUST call before coming up. There's a good chance I won't be dressed if I'm around the house and I don't want them barging in on me. Just a few minutes notice is all I ask.
2.) And that if no one answers the door, they are NOT to come in unless there is an emergency. This is not only because I don't want someone barging in on me (I've once woken up to a maintance guy standing above my bed in my old apartment), but also because Sydney tries to make a break for the door whenever it's opened. And I really don't want to lose my cat by having him run out when someone isn't careful.

Not hard instructions to follow, right? Well, earlier today I was in the bedroom wearing only a small t-shirt and panties (I was about to get in the shower). The bedroom door was closed and I was on the phone with Rob so I couldn't hear the doorbell ring. I thought I heard something like the door opening out in the living room so I put the phone down to check it out. One of the maintanance guys was coming into the apartment. I asked him to leave and he seemed baffled at why. Hello? Do I look dressed enough to be in front of a man I don't know when I'm wearing a short t-shirt and panties??? Fucking moron. I told him that he needed to call before coming up and that if no one answered the door that they weren't allowed in there (apparently one of our apartment managers claimed he was told this and that it was on his instruction sheet). FINALLY, I got him the hell out of there. I told him to come by tomorrow and CALL before he came to make sure I was dressed. I have no idea if he understood me or not.

What the hell? Since when is it appropriate for a guy who just barges into someone's apartment to stand and gawk at a half dressed woman and not get the hell out of there or at least look away?

I was also a bit worried because he had come up with a cart filled with paint, rollers, and tarps. I think he thought he was supposed to re-paint the apartment. Um ... no. Just around the area of the cable outlet where the paint was ripped off the wall and to check and see if the outlet can go back on or if the Adelphia guy totally stripped where the screws go. *shakes head and sighs* The lead maintanance guy is normal. He's cool, he understands what you're saying, and he's very compitent. So why is it that I always get the drooling retarded ones who don't understand their instructions or what I'm saying to be the ones to come up here? *bangs head on wall* I think some of Rob's amazing ability to draw forth the morons of the world is rubbing off on me. I really hope I'm not becoming a moron magnet, because I just don't have the patience to deal with stupid people.
