2004-08-01 3:19 AM The Grove Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Sleepy Read/Post Comments (0) Today Rob and I decided to head out to The Grove. I had only been there once (with Shannon a few months back) and the last time Rob was there The Grove didn't exist, it was still just the Farmer's Market. So, we decided to head over there for the day. Lucky for us, we got there when there was still a decent number of spots in the parking lot. We decided to walk around for a while and look in some stores. Eventually, we made our way to the Farmer's Market section and grabbed some burgers for lunch. After eating we went around looking at the stores once more. We ended up picking up some weird beads that are supposed to clean out a garbage disposal at Sur La Table. We really need something like that (if it works) because our disposal smells like festering ass and maintanance won't come up to do anything about it (they advised running ice and lemons down it, which we did and the ass smell came back about an hour later). We then looked around some more stores and I got a few CDs at Barnes and Nobles. I ended up getting three CDs: The Point of No Return soundtrack (which has some really good Nina Simone tracks on it), Nina Simone Anthology, and the soundtrack to Dirty Dancing (hated the movie, love the music). After walking around The Grove for a bit longer we headed back to the Barnes and Nobles to grab a drink in their Starbucks cafe. When we were done there we went to the movie theatre and saw Anchorman. From this point on, the night was rather disappointing. First of all, the movie theatre at The Grove is WAY overpriced. $12.50 per ticket? Come on, even Citywalk isn't that bad yet. I will admit though that it's a very cool looking theatre. Unfortunately, I HATED the movie. It was horrible. The jokes were lame, the plot bored me, and I just wanted it to end. I was also absolutely disgusted at the scene where a dog is punted off the side of a freeway overpass and into the water. I was even more disgusted at the sick fucks in the theatre who laughed at that. If Rob wouldn't have been with me, I would have walked out then and there. Rob thought the movie was "eh". Dodgeball is a MUCH better comedy if you're in the mood for something weird and silly. After the movie we headed next door to Madame Wu's for dinner. We had heard Carrie, Bryce, and Shannon talk about it and figured we would check it out. We were sorely disappointed. The food there was mediocre at best and messed with both of our stomachs. I thought the waiter was snobby and kind of rude, Rob thought he was distant. Either way, he was annoying. The bathrooms there were also RANK. One of the stalls was so gross I don't even want to write about it on here. The other one was kind of foul as well. This isn't a restaurant that I'll ever probably go back to. Rob didn't like it much either. After dinner we headed out and decided that while it was fun walking around The Grove and checking it out together, the movie theatre and the dining experience were sub par. So, we probably won't go back there a whole lot. It took a while to get home. Traffic was horrible because the Hollywood Bowl was just letting out and traffic was diverted all over the place. We finally made it back to our neck of the woods though. We made a pit stop at the grocery store for a few items we needed and then headed back to the apartment. I'm on now because I was going to play on Neopets for a bit, but the site is down so I decided to post on here. I'll probably check it out when I'm done and if it's still down I'll log off and Rob and I will head to bed sometime soonish. Oh, as a side note - Bryce mentioned at D&D one time that the theatre at The Grove actually sold Sno-Caps at the concession stand. Rob checked for them and they don't. I think there's some weird thing in LA going on. We can't find a single movie theatre that has Sno-Caps. It just isn't right. ----------
Your Scary Your probably goth (good for you). But this also makes most of the things you say creepy to others. Your probably trying to be mean but your slighty twisted so you end up scaring people. But who cares they still go away which is what you wanted. Try creeping people out by saying.... Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
