2004-11-15 10:11 PM Dim Sum, Disneyland, and Fondue Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (2) Yesterday rocked. It was one of the most fun days I have ever had in my life. As most of you know, my Mom's in town and I'm *very* happy about that. I just wish she would be out here longer. I always have fun when she's around. Saturday night my insomnia kicked in again and I ended up dozing off around 6am. When the alarm went off at 7:30am I felt wrecked. But I still got up and jumped in the shower. There was no way I was going to skip out on the plans we had. And now, I'm glad I didn't! After the three of us (my Mom, Rob, and myself) got ready we headed to Chinatown. Rob drove us to the Empress Pavilion and we started the day off with Dim Sum. Dim Sum was super yummy and we all enjoyed it. After eating we looked around at some of the tables that were set up outside. Rob was a sweetie and got me two presents. One was a pair of those balls you twirl around in your hand for stress (get your mind out of the gutter). The ones I had bought previously were a medium and they were too big for my hands. So, he picked me up some small ones (which work great) that have pandas on them. The other thing he bought me was a teeny stuffed turtle. It's really squishy and filled with those micro beads that the freak at the mall on Friday ate. After Dim Sum my Mom drove us down to Disneyland. We bought her a park hopper ticket and headed into California Adventure because she's never been there. We first headed into the Hollywood section and showed her the cool room with the animation playing all around you. We then went into the room where you can animate your own cartoons. Rob drew one of a person turning into a cat. My Mom drew one of a weird mouse giving people the finger. I didn't draw one because I can't draw. We also stopped in the room where you take a quiz that tells you what Disney character you are. My result was the Evil Queen from Snow White. My Mom's result was Mulan. And Rob's result was Jafar from Aladdin. After the animation place we headed to the Tower of Terror. My Mom refused to go on the ride. That was probably for the best because she has severe back and neck problems and hates it when things go completely dark. Rob and I went on it. I LOVE that ride. Coolest ride ever. After the Hollywood area we headed to the simulated glider ride (I think it's called Soaring Over California). She went on that one with us, but didn't like it too much because she's afraid of heights. From there we just walked around the park. At one point Rob and I went on the swinging Gondolas in the boardwalk area and played around in some water in the bug area. We walked around and showed my Mom the park and she seemed to like it. When we were done there we headed over into Disneyland. By this time our feet were hurting so we took the train over to New Orleans Square. We went on the Haunted Mansion (which is now a Nightmare Before Christmas ride) and Pirates of the Caribbean. We then took the train back to the entrance and headed out to Downtown Disney. Dinner was had at the Rainforest Cafe (a restaurant with amazing turkey caesar salad wraps) and Rob got my Mom a gift of a little frog that she said she really liked. Oh, I forgot to mention, when we were leaving Disneyland my sweetie husband got me one of the balloons I LOVE (a green Mickey head balloon in a clear balloon - I LOVE those because I remember having one as a kid). Dinner was great and we headed back to the car when we were done. My Mom drove home. The day was wonderful and I think that all of us had a great time. Today I slept in a bit. I had gotten almost no sleep on Friday or Saturday night and my body needed the rest. I ended up getting up around 11am. I had a rather bad experience while getting ready this morning. I shave my legs in the shower. I have no glasses on when I do so (so I can barely see) and it's a bit hard to keep my balance. So, shaving my legs is not the easiest thing in the world. Today I also found out that it's downright impossible to do when in the middle of a sneezing fit. Yes, that's right, I got to shave my legs while sneezing uncontrollably for ten minutes straight. I'm lucky I still have my legs attached to my body. After my Mom and I got ready we headed over to the Sherman Oaks mall. We ate lunch in the food court (I had Panda Express and she had Carl's) and then we went to Lane Bryant. My Mom wanted to find a few things that she could take back home with her to have my grandma give me for Xmas. We only found one thing, but it was really cute. It's a pink sweater with faux fur around the neck. So, she'll be taking that back and I'll get it on Xmas from my Nana. We also made a stop in Sephora where I got some - say it with me - lip gloss. We then headed out of the mall and onto the 101 to pick Rob up from work. Traffic was a nightmare. We got to his office around 5:30pm (we were aiming for around 5pm). After picking him up we headed back to our neck of the woods and went to La Fondue for dinner. Our burner wasn't working too well so it took longer than usual to cook our food in the oil, but it wasn't a big deal because we weren't in any major hurry. Dinner was amazing as usual. That has to be my favorite restaurant of all time. After dinner Rob drove us back home. I'll try and get on here for e-mail and journal posting when I can, but things are rather busy what with my Mom out here and all. Things should be back to normal on Thursday. ----------
