2005-03-19 2:45 AM Torrid Used To Be So Cool Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Disappointed at how much Torrid now sucks. Read/Post Comments (0) Tonight (Friday night) Rob and I headed up to the Northridge mall. The club we're going to tomorrow night for Al's goodbye party has a strict goth/fetish dress code. I looked through my closet last night and really don't have anything appropriate. How odd. I used to have tons of goth clothing. I guess being 30, old, and no longer LARPing means I just have a closet full of normal clothes. Go figure. We made our way up to the mall in the rain and our first stop was at Torrid because they usually have some pretty neat stuff. And while they've been getting worse over the past year, there's usually some goth wear in there. Wow. Pita was right. Torrid now sucks big time. It used to have Hot Topic fashions in stock only in larger women's sizes. Now they've gone all bright and trendy. I picked up a "store comment card" and am going to send it it letting them know that while I used to have a hard time deciding what to buy (because I liked so much) that now there's nothing at all that interests me. It looks like they're catering to the mainstream teenage crowd. They did inform me that Hot Topic online will carry some of the cool plus size things. Um... hello. Do they not realize it's a horrible idea to make plus size women have to order their clothes online? We, more than anyone, need to try things on! I'm so sending in a scathing comment card and sending an e-mail and letter to their corporate headquarters. The store sucks ass now. We then went to Hot Topic. They don't carry any women's clothing for anyone who is not anorexic. It's really sad. Rob looked around in there for something for him to wear and didn't come up with anything. A lot of t-shirts with lame slogans on them, but not much cool goth clothing. Apparently they're mostly carrying that stuff around Halloween now. What is this world coming to? I also checked Lane Bryant, but they didn't have ANYTHING that would work. I gave some thought to what was in my closet and decided I would have to go with an old Halloween costume for tomorrow night. I have a black 1920's style flapper dress. Maybe I can do the whole goth glam thing. So, I picked up some black lace panties (for some reason, every time I wear a dress someone ends up seeing my panties), some black opera gloves, and a small white clutch with a black sequin flower on it. That will have to do. Rob's planning on fixing up his leather pants and poet's shirt for tomorrow night. He'll look cool - black leather pants, a white poet's shirt, a black leather vest, and boots. I'll look like I'm in a Halloween costume. I hope they don't turn me away for what I'm wearing. I tried. They just don't make any goth clothes for larger women. And the sad thing is, I'm not that huge. After the uber disappointing mall run we headed to dinner. We decided to hold off on Outback (which I've been craving) until another night and went to TGI Friday's. Damn their food is good. The broccoli cheese soup and the dumpling appitizer was amazing. Guess I was just really in the mood for that. After dinner we headed home and spent a few hours trying on stuff for the club. In the end we decided on the same outfits we thought would be the best. ----------
