Second Time At The Faire

Mood:
Tired and covered in a rash from the sun.

Sunday Rob and I made another run to the Ren Faire. It was supposed to be partly cloudy with a high of 69. It wasn't. It was mostly sunny and got into the mid-80's. Ugh.

We did have fun, though I had to keep finding shade and drinking plenty of water because there were a few times I came pretty close to passing out due to overheating. We wandered around the whole Faire again and this time I was smart and brought more money with me because I knew what I wanted to get. I ended up getting a few more leather roses (I'm so going to end up decorating the apartment with milk bottles filled with shiny rocks and a rose that matches the color of the stones) and a super cool puzzle ring. I've wanted one of those rings every time we've gone to the Faire in years past. We ate some super yummy Faire food and did a ton of walking. With the amount we ate, I'm surprised that I didn't gain any weight this morning. I guess the walking worked it off.

One of the things we had been looking for, we couldn't find. A few years ago I got a tiny stuffed unifrog, however I have no clue where it went to. When I moved from my old apartment upstairs to this one with Rob, we still couldn't find it. We asked around at the Faire and NO ONE remembered it ever being sold there. Did Rob and I have some weird mass hallucination about a unifrog? Too bizarre.

I looked around the lake while there and couldn't find the injured goose anywhere. I'm hoping it's been rescued. With the type of people at the Faire, I wouldn't doubt it. But just to make sure I'll probably head back to the park when the Faire is done and check to see if he's still there. I want to make sure he's well taken care of.

The Faire rocked, except for the sun and the heat. If there's any other cool day we might go again, but it doesn't look like there will be. The only game we played was the turtle racing, and we went with the same turtle as last time (who almost won). This time, he did win! The turtles like us. We ended up winning a sword. It's not the greatest sword in the world, but it is a real sword and for the few bucks we put in for our turtle, it's pretty damn spiffy.

On the way out, Rob got two other swords. Wooden ones. He picked up a wavy one for himself and a two handed one for me. They're really cool. After exiting the Faire we were tempted to go inside the large blow up dragon (it's a tour of the belly of a dragon), but it was just too hot out to enter a large plastic dragon. So, we headed home.

On the way home I noticed I was getting a rash all over my hands, arms, and anywhere else the sun hit me. This happens a lot. Whenever I'm out in the sun for more than a few minutes, I get a rash where the sun hit me. This happens whether or not I'm wearing sunscreen and in any location (so I know it's not something at that park). Weird. It itches like hell. Can someone be allergic to the sun?

When we got home we crashed. Neither of us got much sleep on Saturday night so we took a nice three hour nap. We woke up, ordered in Chinese food for dinner, gamed, watched a bit of Adult Swim (mostly for Robot Chicken) and then went to bed.
