Yesterday when I was working on putting more CDs to the iTunes (and then to the iPod) I got a message from the computer saying that no more songs would fit on the computer. The memory was all used up. WTF??? I'm pretty sure our computer has more memory than a friggin' iPod. So, when Rob got home I had him check out what the hell was going on.

Apparently Sony does something really retarded when it comes to making their computers (we have a Vaio desktop). They partition the memory between the C and D drives. They put barely any memory into the C drive (and yet that's where everything automatically goes) and put the vast majority of the memory into the D drive. Now, if you're like me and don't know anything about computers, it's difficult to figure out what the hell a D drive is, let alone how to put something into it. Rob called Sony last night and they said the only way to unpartition the drives is to wipe everything off of our computer and re-load the basic syetem. I don't think so. Our only other option was to put iTunes and all of our songs onto the D drive. That was a nightmare.

Transferring over iTunes itself wasn't too hard. We dragged it into the D drive and deleted it off the C drive. Not a big. We then found where the music was stored and dragged the "My Music" folder over to the D drive. About a half hour later when it was all in there we deleted it off of the C drive. That's when all hell broke loose. When I went to open iTunes, there was nothing in it. Finally, we figured out how to import the "My Music" folder into iTunes and we got our songs back. However, all of the playlists were gone. And Mac is so retarded that you can't import anything from the iPod to iTunes (just from iTunes to the iPod). Which means if the computer ever crashes, you get a new computer, or you lose your songs, you have to import everything from the CDs from scratch. How fucking annoying is that?

The only way we could get our playlists back was to go through what was on the iPod (before re-syncing it with iTunes) and manually put every song into each play list. It took us FOUR HOURS to do that! Rob was a sweetie and helped out with it (without him I would probably still be doing it). We started re-building the playlists at 11pm. We ended at 3am. Neither of us got much sleep last night.

This is why I hate technology. It seems to me for every two steps you take forward, three are taken back. And it really seems sometimes not to be worth the hassle involved. Sure it's convienient to have all our songs on one iPod and be able to just use that in the car and not CD's, but for all the hassle of getting those songs on there it would be easier just to deal with the CDs. Why is it that whenever anything technological comes into existance that is supposed to make things easier, it really makes things harder in the long run? I think I was born into the wrong century. I really don't like technology.

There was at least one good part of the day yesterday. In between all of the computer issues we were having we had our monthly pedicure appointments. So nice and relaxing. I got my toes done a very deep pink (that has a hint of purple in it - it's kind of a dark fushia). I thought it was rather appropriate for the month of May and very "Springy". After our pedis we made a stop at the grocery store for some cat litter and the drug store to pick up some other much needed items.
