One Of THOSE Days

Yesterday was one of those days. Where everything just seems to go wrong. Bleh.

We woke up late on Sunday and decided since we didn't have anything planned that we might as well head down to Disneyland. Traffic there was a nightmare and it took us an hour and a half to get there. Once we got there, Rob had his first car accident. Luckily, no other car was involved. He misjudged a parking spot and ended up slamming the front left part of his car into a wall. The damage to the front seems to be purely cosmetic. There are some scratches and paint from the wall on his bumper and one of his lights is loose (you can push it in), but everything still works. And we're very happy the airbags didn't go off. We should have taken that as a sign of how the rest of the night would pan out and left then, but we didn't.

We made our way over to Downtown Disney and decided to have dinner at the Jazz Kitchen. It's a place we have been wanting to try for awhile now since Kat highly recommends it and there was no wait. Good, right? Wrong. I'm allergic to various foods, but my shellfish allergy is so bad that it will send me straight to the hospital because my throat closes off completely. So what's the vast majority of the menu? Shellfish and a bunch of other foods I can't eat. The only item on the menu that I could eat was one of their soups (a seafood free gumbo). So, I ended up having a cup of soup. Rob was less than pleased with the place as well. While his dinner was good, it was overpriced for what they give you. Considering the fact that my only food for the day was a cup of soup, I wanted to grab something else to eat when we left. I thought about stopping at the La Brea Bakery Express, but we were right by the Monorail entrance to Disneyland so we decided I'd get something at the restaurant in Fantasy Land. We headed out of the restaurant and onto the Monorail.

The Monorail was pretty crowded, but we managed to find a seat... sitting backwards. By the time we were in Tomorrow Land I needed to sit down for a bit because riding backwards had made me motion sick and given me a bit of a headache. The motion sickness went away, but the headache started to get worse and I started to feel dizzy. Come to find out, the headache wasn't from the Monorail. It was from my blood sugar crashing and my hypoglycemia kicking in. Which meant that I needed to get some food in me. We tried to head to Fantasy Land, but couldn't. All of the ways out of Tomorrow Land were roped off for a parade. We were stuck in Tomorrow Land and the only food place there had a band playing that was so loud it made my headache worse, so we weren't going to eat there. We spent about a half an hour wandering around Tomorrow Land trying to find a way out. Eventually I needed to sit down because I felt like I was about to pass out. Rob found out that they were going to open a walkway for a very short time in between parade floats so we got in that line and ran like hell for Fantasy Land as soon as the walkway opened.

We made our way over to the restaurant where I tore into a burger and soda. I didn't touch the fries or bun, just the meat. And I felt SO much better after the meal. Headache gone. We then decided to head over to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, but the line for the ride was closed. Fantasy Land was closing down because it was the "fallout area" for the fireworks. So, we tried to head out of that area, but most of the exits were roped off. We finally made our way out of Fantasy Land and over to Pirates. There was no line for Pirates, but we had two annoying ladies in front of us in our boat. They kept comparing things in the ride to the movie. Loudly. After Pirates we went on the Haunted Mansion and there was also no line for that because by this time Fantasmic had started and everyone was watching that. When we were done on the Haunted Mansion we hopped in line for the train that would take us back to entrance of the park.

Our train ride occured during the fireworks and when we were in the Toon Town area on the train I kept jumping at the loud firework bangs. I hate loud noises and they make me very jumpy. Finally we got back to the entrance and we hopped off the train and Rob was sweet enough to get me a red Mickey Glasshouse balloon. I love that man more than I can ever say.

We made our way out of the park, grabbed a snack at Wetzel's in Downtown Disney, and then headed back to the car and drove home.

Today I finally made contact with my Dad. I gave him the info for the flights that we need and he's going to contact me either tomorrow or Wednesday with the details of what flight we're on. So, it looks like we're getting a nice week long vacation next month. Woot!

As far as my sickies go, things have been getting better. My nose isn't so stuffed up during the day anymore. I have no idea why, but it only gets stuffed up when I'm laying down in bed. My voice isn't 100%, but it's a lot better and the bronchitis seems to be getting better as well. The only negative thing is that the glands in my throat are really hurting today. I'm hoping that it's just my body processing the rest of the sickies out of my body and that I'm not coming down with another something.
