2005-09-26 3:14 PM Weekend Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Wanting to shower and start on the laundry. Read/Post Comments (0) Friday night Rob and I went out for dinner. We were trying to come up with ideas when I thought to see if a Chinese restaurant I liked (but had since been torn down) moved or went out of business. Apparently, it moved. So we headed to their new location for dinner. The food was still very good, but not as good as some of the other fab Chinese restaurants we've found as of late. After dinner we went back home to finish household chores that were left hanging when we needed foodage. Saturday we got up early and headed into Chinatown for some Dim Sum. Getting there was tricky. First the offramp into Chinatown was closed so we had to exit into downtown LA and find our way from there. Luckily Rob was driving and knows his way around LA fairly well. Then, when we found Chinatown once again, most of the area was closed off for a parade. So we had to go around and try to find a way to the other end of the town. Eventually we made it there and were surprised to find the place pretty empty. Probably because of all the traffic hassles. Dim Sum was amazing. It's been awhile since we've gone there and we really need to go there more (though it's hard to get up early on a weekend morning). I'm so glad we went though, Dim Sum = great pregnancy food! Mmmmm. After eating we checked out some shops in the area and then headed home for a nap. Neither of us got much sleep that night and both wanted a few more hours of shut eye. The nap felt amazing. As a side note, I have an answer to both Nobody and Brainsalad. Nobody asked in a previous questionnaire for me to name one thing I liked about LA. I thought I did (to me LA is the entire area, not just downtown), but she seemed to think otherwise. Brainsalad also asked me to name something a tourist should do if they were here and I really couldn't think of anything that your average tourist wouldn't already know about. Now I have an answer for both of you. One of the few things I like about LA, and something a tourist should check out is Dim Sum at the Empress Pavillion in Chinatown. It's amazing foodage and so worth the trip. Once we got up from our naps we decided to head down south for a bit. We made a brief stop at the Citadel Outlets because Rob had never seen them before. We got a few Pyrex bowls at a kitchen store and Rob got some zip up sweatshirts at Eddie Bauer. From there we headed to a nearby Halloween store, but couldn't find anything of interest. We headed further south to a bigger one, but didn't find much there either. I then realized that as hard as it is to find plus size costumes for other Halloweens, it's damn near impossible to find a costume for someone who is plus sized and pregnant. So, I'd have to just look around and see what I could turn into a costume at some point. After the Halloween stores we headed back home and ordered Indian food for dinner. We also worked on a possible new character for me to play down the road when I'm done with my current side game character (not for the big game, for that I'm sticking with Krynn). Sunday we slept in. Later on in the day we headed out to the Montclair area. We made a stop off at the mall. We were going to buy some lotion that we both needed at Bath and Body Works because I had a cool coupon for a bunch of freebies, but apparently it wasn't good at that store. It's only good at their "flagship" stores. The coupon didn't say anything about that and I have no idea what the hell a "flagship" store is. *sigh* I also made a run into Lane Bryant. Granted, most of their clothes don't fit me now that I'm pregnant and showing, but I thought maybe I could find something for a Halloween costume there. It just had to have an elastic waist. Surprisingly enough, I did. I ended up finding a cool crinkled multi colored skirt (which has a big elastic waist and should fit me when I'm 6 months pregnant) and a knit airy poncho type top. I also got some tacky gold jewelry to go along with the outfit. Voila - looks like I'll be dressing up as a gypsy for Halloween. Rob's going to try and find a gypsy outfit as well. We tend to coordinate our costumes, though not much will beat last year's when I went as Little Red Riding Hood and he went as the Big Bad Wolf. We got a lot of compliments on those costumes at the club last year. I have no idea what we're doing for Halloween this year, we should probably make plans with Berek and Pita somewhat soonish. After the mall we headed to dinner. We debated between Baker's Square and Green Burrito. Both sounded good to me, so I let Rob decide. We ended up going to the Green Burrito. The food was yummy, but damn do they have large portions. You know it's scary when I'm preggers and hungry and can't even finish my burrito. Wow. After dinner we headed back home, watched the news and some of Adult Swim, and then headed to bed. So far today has been unproductive. We got notice from our building that we would have no hot water all day long. Not a big, I can handle a cold shower and the clothes I need to wash today can all be washed in cold water. I found out when I tried to shower that we also have no water pressure. Which means I have yet to shower and can't do any laundry until the pressure also comes back. Would have been nice if they would have told us that part as well. Gah, for what we pay in rent, this building blows. ----------
