Sick As Hell

Mood:
Getting better.

Sunday I started to feel better, but decided to stay around the house just to make sure I got back to 100%. I still had some runs to the bathroom, but nothing like on Saturday and for the most part was able to keep my fever down. I was even able to eat some Jerry's take out for dinner. I had some soup and some corned beef. While I had to have some sort of meat because of the GD diet, the corned beef was a huge mistake.

Monday I woke up sicker than ever. Not only were the bathroom runs and the fever back, but I also had severe nausea to go along with it. I took my Tylenol, but they weren't strong enough to break the fever. They were able to keep the fever below 100 though, so that was at least good. I spent the day in bed and was too weak to do anything. I didn't even have the strength to log on. When Rob got home from work he helped me do things like shower since I couldn't even really stand on my own. I was a wreck. I was able to keep liquids down so I didn't get dehydrated, but during the entire day only ate 4 crackers.

Things got really bad when I was getting ready for bed. I tried taking one of my medications and it sent me into a hurling spree. In the bathroom sink. Rob grabbed a garbage pail for me to hurl in and I collapsed on the floor and continued to hurl while he tried to clean up the mess in the sink. A sink is not a good place to hurl into and it took some Draino to get the sink working again. This is when we found out that my sickness was probably due to food. There was food in that sink that I had eaten days ago... including the corned beef. Rob was amazing in that he didn't hurl while cleaning up my hurl while I was curled up in a little ball on the floor. As much as it sucked, I think it was a good thing that I threw up. It got some really bad things out of my system and my fever ended up breaking during the night.

Today I'm feeling better. Not 100%, but definitely better than yesterday. Then again, half-dead is better than yesterday. My runs to the bathroom are gone today. My temp is actually a little lower than normal, but that's usually what happens to me when my body is trying to regulate itself. I'm not super nauseous anymore, but I'm being very careful about what I eat (lunch today was a few saltines and I'll probably just eat some buttered noodles for dinner - I got the okay from the doctor to ignore the GD diet while I'm sick and recouperating and just to eat what I know I can hold down even if it is only carbs). Interestingly enough, even with eating a lot of carbs and the sugary Gatorade, my numbers have stayed within the normal range. I'm still dizzy and a bit out of it, but I guess that's to be expected after yesterday. I also have a headache.

Every Valentine's Day that Rob and I have been together we've taken the day off and gone to Disneyland. Not so today. I'm too pregnant to be able to handle something like Disneyland and I'm still recouperating from being sick as hell. He's got to be at work if he even wants a chance of being with me during labor if I'm laboring during work hours. We had originally planned on having a nice dinner out at La Fondue tonight, but had to cancel that due to my being sick. So, it looks as if this Valentine's Day will be spent in trying to get me better before the baby is born.
