I've taken to calling Gabriel "pillbug". Have you ever seen one of those bugs that roll up when you touch them? Well, that's what Gabriel is like. A lot of times (especially during diaper changes) he brings his arms and legs up onto his body like a little pillbug. While it's rather cute, it also makes changing his diaper to be a bit challenging.

Things have been difficult for me around here, but today they got a bit easier. Gabriel is still fussy and still has some scary poops (one earlier today was so bad I needed to clean him with paper towels before using the baby wipes), but two things today have made it a bit better for me. The first was that for the first time, he smiled at me. He had started to fall asleep in my arms and then woke with a start and looked at me. He smiled and went back to sleep. It was so cute and makes all of this even more worthwhile. He has smiled before, but it was usually at the lamp or Rob. The other thing was my lunch. Thanks to Rob, I had lunch! Work wasn't super busy and he has to stay late tonight to work at an awards banquet (even though he could be on paternity leave now and isn't they're making him work late, I swear they have no appreciation for him not taking any leave at all - oh and his boss is skipping it!) and I think he felt sorry for me because yesterday the first thing I ate was what he brought home for dinner and the first thing I had the time to drink was at 10pm. By the end of yesterday I was mentally and physically exhausted, my incision and back were hurting, I was super hungry, and way dehydrated. So today he came home during his lunch hour and brought me something to eat. When he got here Gabriel was wanting food and I had just started him on his bottle, so he fed him while I ate my lunch. After that he headed back to work. It's a bit scary when getting to eat lunch has become a luxury that can really make me happy. I'm still waiting for Gabriel to take a nap so that I can shower though. I reek like sour milk and baby poop.
