Yesterday I had my post-partum appointment with Dr. Hill. Rob picked Gabriel and I up around 1pm and we grabbed lunch at a fast food drive through and then headed to the hospital. We ate lunch in the nurse's break room and then Rob headed back to work and I hung out with Gabriel and flipped through a magazine. I headed to the appointment a few minutes before the appointment time of 2:30. They were running a bit late so I hung out in the waiting room for about 20 minutes.

Rob came up for the appointment and when they called me he watched Gabriel while they did my weight, blood pressure, and had me pee in a cup. We then went into an exam room and the doctor came in pretty quickly. She did an internal exam to make sure everything was getting back to normal and did my pap for the year (ugh, I do not recommend getting a pap done if you haven't been allowed to have sex or even use tampons for the previous 6 weeks).

I asked the doctor a lot of questions while I was there. The numbness I still have in my stomach is normal, it can take a long time for those nerves to heal and come back. The pain I'm feeling in the incision both inside and out is also normal. My random bleeding on and off is normal and is my body's way of telling me when I'm doing too much. I'm now cleared for sex and the use of tampons at my next period (which apparently can come any time between now and a year from now). I also found out that there is a form of birth control pill I can take that shouldn't mess with my health problems. She gave me a sample and I'm supposed to start them the Sunday after my next period starts. If I like them she'll give me a prescription for them. I know the pill is super effective, but I think we might stick with condoms as well. I love my little Gabriel, but he was planned and we really are not ready for a second child. She also signed off on my jury duty form and I need to get that mailed out sometime tonight (along with a few bills as well).

After the appointment Gabriel and I headed back to the break room and Rob went back to work. Some of his co-workers stopped by to see Gabriel and one of them kept trying to wake him up even though I had just gotten him to fall asleep after a feeding. *grumble* When he was done with work we headed back to our area, picked up some KFC to go, and headed home to eat our chicken. While eating the chicken I got a sharp splinter of bone stuck in my throat. I couldn't get it out so I swallowed it. It hurt like hell going down and then my stomach started hurting. I was a bit worried, so we called my Mom and she said it should be digestible. That made me feel a lot better.

By the time we were done with dinner I was so sleep deprived that I kept passing out and giggled at everything. I don't remember a lot of what happened, but I know that everything was funny. Rob suggested that I take a half hour nap, so at 7:30 I curled up in bed. I had planned on getting up at 8, but that didn't happen and I ended up just going to bed for the night at 7:30. It felt nice and I needed the sleep and because Rob was still awake at the time and I was able to get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep while he took care of Gabriel in the living room. Sleep is nice.

I've been writing this entry for awhile now. During this one entry I've checked on Gabriel several times, rocked him a bit, changed a scary poopy diaper, and changed one pee diaper. I'm hoping he nods off at some point today so that I can get a shower in before Rob gets home from work. As far as food goes, I'm going to try to munch some left over chicken while I work on his next bottle.
