2006-12-11 12:31 PM Very Busy Weekend Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Tired Read/Post Comments (2) Friday night we didn't have D&D. Berek and Pita had an office party to go to. So, we headed to the mall instead. I went into Lane Bryant to see if they had any warm PJ's. They did, but not in my size. Then we went to Bath and Body Works so that I could get some more body wash and pick up a gift card for Margie. We grabbed dinner at a place called Barney's Burgers and then headed out of the mall. After the mall we made an ATM run and grabbed some milkshakes (mmmmm, it's the time of the year when they have peppermint ice cream in stock) at Baskin Robbins. We then headed back home. Saturday we had to get up early. It takes us at least two hours to get ready to go anywhere now that we have the Poopchuck. We had to get into downtown Los Angeles by noon for his pediatrician appointment. This is the last time we're going to be at that doctor's office and the last time we get to see Dr. Nakashima. Gabriel got his checkup (he's doing great) and had a TB test done (fine), an anemia test done (excellent - they wanted a count of 10 or higher and he's at 14+), and he got his flu shot. We need to find a pediatrician out where we're moving to because he will need a second flu shot next month. Oh, and for the record Gabriel is now 19 pounds, 2 ounces and he's 27 and 3/4 inches long. The doctor also said it's time to start him on the stage 3 foods and some finger foods as well. After the doctor's visit we headed back to our area and made a stop at the grocery store for some cat supplies for Amber and some baby food, finger food, and Cheerios for Gabriel. We then went to a pet store to get some bags of food for both Amber and Sydney and headed back home. When we got home I noticed that a woman at the apartment next door was having a rummage sale. There were a good amount of Beanie Babies and Beanie Buddies out so I checked it out. I ended up getting a bunch of Buddies for my collection (bat, t-rex, pteradactyl, stegosaurus, and a brontosaurus). I also got a triceratops for Gabriel. If she's out again next weekend I'll probably pick up some more. We then took a bit of a breather at home to eat lunch and then got all of Amber's thing together, groomed Amber, and got her ready to head out. We headed up to Berek and Pita's place with Amber and when we got there they gave Gabriel a super cool stacking toy for his holiday present (which he now absolutely loves to chew on, I think chewing on something is the Gabriel seal of approval). We then chilled out at their place for awhile and waited for Amber's new adoptive Mommy to arrive. When she did we gave her everything, she saw Amber (and thought she was gorgeous), and then headed off. Rob and I cried a bit but Berek and Pita rock and did an excellent job of distracting us (thanks guys). Eventually we headed out and drove out to the Montclair area. We made a stop at the Lane Bryant in La Verne, but they also were out of the thermal PJs in my size. So we headed to Golden China for dinner. Gabriel was super well behaved at dinner and even played peek-a-boo with us during most of the dinner with Rob's napkin. After dinner we headed back home. Sunday was a very busy day. We headed out and our first stop was at the Avenue off of the 210 freeway (I don't know what city it's in). I want to stock up on the jeans and panties I love before the move since there will be no Avenue stores out near where we will be living. I was able to get some jeans and panties, but not all that I wanted. Their registers were down so it took a very long time to check out, but it was worth it. From there we headed to an Avenue in the Rancho Cucamonga area. I was able to get another pair of jeans and a few panties, but each of the stores only have a few panties of my size in stock. Aargh. So, I'll be needing to head to another Avenue or two sometimes this week. Must stock up on panties. From there we went to the Lane Bryant in Rancho Cucamonga and I was able to find the thermal PJs in my size. Yay! I shall be warm at my Mom's place and at our new apartment. We then headed to Babies R Us for formula, diapers, and diaper wipes and then went to dinner at Chipotle. We got a whole bunch of bags of their chips to bring home with us. They have the best chips ever. After dinner a stop was made at another Baskin Robbins for a peppermint shake and then we headed back home. While Rob and I both miss Amber (and both had a cry when she was gone) we know that what we did was for the best. Dr. Nakashima said there probably wouldn't be any improvement in Gabriel's allergies until we move because her dander would be imbedded in the carpet and everything else since we've lived in this apartment for five years. However, there's been an improvement in both Gabriel and in myself. I'm sneezing a lot less and for the first time since I can remember can breathe fully through my nose. Gabriel's not nearly as stuffy as he's been and I haven't seen him wheeze once since we cleaned up and did some vaccuming. Sydney's doing well. I was worried about him getting depressed, but he doesn't seem to be. He's following me around a lot, but he's getting a lot of attention (and can now sleep in the bedroom with us) so I think he's happy. He also hasn't pulled any fur out since Amber left. Also a good sign. We do miss Amber and while this sucks, we at least know we made the right decision. And after meeting Amber's new adoptive Mommy we feel a lot better. Even after meeting her for a few minutes, it's obvious she'd be a loving Mommy to any animal. ----------
