Donate Weapons of Mass Destruction

It's as if Gabriel knows when we need to get up and then dedides to be fussy all night. On the nights when we could sleep in Gabriel's been sleeping very well. But last night he was up and fussy until around 4:30am and of course we had to get up at 7am this morning. Ugh.

So yeah, we got up around 7am, showered, got ready, and headed out of the house a little after 9am. We were heading to our new place to get some errands done. The drive there was fairly uneventful (though we were all tired) and took the usual three hours to get there.

Once we got there Gladys (our resident manager) let us in to our apartment and we got our keys and garage door remotes. We looked around our place a bit and kind of got an idea as to where we want to put our furniture and then headed out on some errands.

Our first stop was at Chase to open new bank accounts. The process took a lot longer than we thought it would (about an hour and a half), but we managed to come out of there with separate checking accounts and a joint savings account. We came in at the right time and were able to get in on a promotion which gives us 5% interest on our savings for the next 6 months! We also get interest on our checking, free checks, a free safety deposit box, etc. The banker we worked with was super nice and everyone there was polite. I'm liking it out here better than LA already. It's also weird that our new bank has no bullet proof glass. The B of A in Burbank that we used to bank at had super thick bullet proof glass between you and the employees. So thick that I could never hear a word the tellers were saying. There was none of that in this bank. It was nice and I hope we'll be happy with our choice of bank. The only negative is that we have a hold on our money for about ten business days. I understand why they do that (because of possible fraud and the like), but it sucks when we have bills to pay. Oh, and we just found out that we need to pay over $1100 a month for COBRA to cover our health insurance while Rob is looking for a new job. Ugh.

After the bank run we headed to Wal*Mart to pick up some essentials for our apartment (towel racks, shower caddy, cleaning supplies, laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) and then ran it all back to the apartment. We then made a grocery store run (where we happily found out that Pick N Save has much better prices than Ralph's) to get some basic supplies and then ran those back to the apartment as well.

After dropping the groceries out and taking in our surroundings one more time, we headed out and grabbed dinner at Culver's. Because of the baby we all ate in the car and then headed back to my Mom's place. The drive home took only two and a half hours, and that was with a bathroom stop.

Now we're all back at my Mom's place and chilling out here and unwinding after a long day. Our place is amazing and I can't wait until we officially move in.
