Donate Weapons of Mass Destruction

Rob's arm got a lot worse last night. He got up in the middle of the night because the pain was actually making him nauseous. I woke up when I heard him screaming in the bathroom and found him on the bathroom floor. He had been on the floor by the toilet because he was worried he was going to throw up. Then the pain in his shoulder became unbearable and he couldn't move his arm at all. He was screaming in pain when I woke up and I got him up and into bed. I then went in to where my Mom was sleeping and got her up and told her we needed to go to the ER. She came in, saw how bad off Rob was, and agreed.

I got dressed and then stayed next to Rob in the bed while my Mom called 911. First a local paramedic came to check him out and then another one arrived. They checked his pulse and gave him some oxygen which he didn't want once it started making him queasy. Then the ambulance came and they checked him out to make sure he wasn't having a heart attack or an embalism. Once he was in the clear they loaded him into the back of the ambulance and I headed up front to the passenger seat.

They took him to the Galena hospital and I was allowed in the emergency room with him. The nurses checked him out and I signed things because Rob couldn't and I gave them the insurance information and all that. I waited by Rob and finally a doctor came in. I wasn't too thrilled with the doctor. He didn't even examine Rob's shoulder or arm. He said it was a muscle cramp (and I'm pretty sure he was right about that) and told Rob to relax. Yeah, like that was going to happen considering the amount of pain he was in. Then the doctor said to Rob "so what do you want, a shot or something". Yeah you douche, how about something to help Rob out when he's in severe pain and rating it a 10 on the pain scale? There's a reason we're in the ER in the middle of the night. Sheesh. He said he'd have a nurse give him a shot of a muscle relaxant and a pain killer.

It took a very long time for the nurse to come in with the shots for Rob. This pissed the hell out of me. I was sitting there next to Rob (who was in extreme pain) and could do nothing. All the while the people who could do something were dragging their asses. My Mom and Gabriel showed up (she drove to the hospital) when we were waiting for the drugs. They were also allowed into the ER with Rob. Finally the nurse came in with the two shots, both of which had to be given in his ass and both of which hurt like hell. The first shot was the pain killer and the second shot was the muscle relaxant. They also put an ice pack on his shoulder.

We waited awhile and a little before 8am he was able to get up and walk so they released him and gave him a prescription for some Valium. We stopped at a local drug store which just opened for the day, had his prescription filled, and then headed back home.

Rob got into bed and slept. I stayed with him and managed to stay awake until I was sure he was sleeping. Mom took care of the baby which was amazing because she didn't get much sleep at all and Gabriel was not willing to go to sleep when we got home. Rob and I slept in until around 3pm. At that point the baby still hadn't slept at all. (It's 8:05pm now and he just started taking his first nap of the day.)

What a trio we make. We have a very active and squirmy ten month old baby and two cats that are constantly fighting to deal with. My Mom is exausted and has a bad elbow. Rob's shoulder still aches and his right arm has very limited movement and almost no strength and he's also stoned on Valium. I can barely walk up and down the stairs on my own and my adhesions make it so I can't lift anything heavy. Oy. It's not easy around here.

To top it all off, we have no idea what's going on with our stuff. We were told our things would be delivered to our new apartment on Friday the 29th (tomorrow). We've been tracking our moving truck and for a little while it looked as if it might even arrive early. On December 26 he was halfway through Iowa. And then he started backtracking and he's been in Texas for the past few days. We can't get in touch with our representative (who is the only one who can answer our questions) and she won't return our messages. So all of our things are currently in Texas, the truck hasn't moved for over a day, and we don't know when we'll get our things or what is going on. My car is on there and it needs to be run every few days or the battery dies. So now I'm also worried about it not being able to start and get unloaded off of the truck whenever the hell our things do arrive. The moving company knows that we need a day's notice for delivery since we're about three hours away, but I think it's pretty obvious that the delivery will be late since we can't get in touch with anyone and our stuff is in Texas and doesn't appear to be leaving there.

We stayed in my Mom's place all today and tonight. She's exhausted and Rob is in no condition to leave the house. So, we ordered in some appetizers and pizza from Happy Joes and are watching TV and chilling out.

What Is Your Daemon?

DOG - Your daemon may be a dog if you are loyal and caring, and like to know what is expected of you. You probably are very family oriented, and have a small group of friends that you are very close to, rather than a large group of acquaintances. You dislike confrontation, but you will stand up and fight for the people and issues that you really care about. You may prefer someone else to take the lead in a situation, although you would rather take the lead yourself than have the situation fall apart. You probably enjoy routine and order, but that doesn't mean you don't like to have fun. If anything, your friends probably know you for getting intense, child-like pleasure in the small things in life.
