Really Good and Really Bad

Mood:
Exhausted

I got up at 7:30am this morning after only two hours of sleep. I'm exhausted and feel like I'm going to collapse. I can't wait until Gabriel goes to sleep so that I can go to sleep.

As the title of this entry says, I have some really good things to report and some really bad things to say as well. I'll start with the bad.

My Nana is not doing well at all. To start things off, the drained bed sore on her heel isn't healing properly and is turning black. The doctor is trying something with it and hopefully it will get better. If it keeps getting worse it might have to be amputated. Sad to say, that's not the worst of this news. My Nana also had a small stroke today when she was walking. She had her walker and when she had the stroke she fell. Luckily, my Mom was right by her side and caught her so she went down softly onto the ground. My Mom then had to call over two neighbors to help get her back up. Nana is fine from the fall, but not so much so from the small stroke. She's having a hard time staying awake and is hallucinating a bit. She's still at home and not back in the hospital because there's nothing they can do for her. Rob, Gabriel, and I would like to get out there soon, but my Mom has to be with my Nana 24/7 (no joke, at night my Mom gets sleep in less than one hour spurts) and therefore doesn't have the time to have guests around. We're going to try to figure out something. Things are looking really bad for my Nana. The universe needs to stop taking a large dump on my friends and family who are having difficult times. Enough is enough. Seriously.

And now onto the good. Gabriel has some new words. While Nana isn't a new word, we've found that it means Grandma and he uses it for both my Mom and Rob's Mom. Appa is Grandpa and he started saying that after being around Rob's Dad. He's also started saying "poop". Which is actually good because he's starting to tell us when he poops his diaper. Before, we wouldn't know until we smelled it because for some odd reason this kid didn't cry or fuss or let us know when he pooped. Luckily for us he's a Poopchuck so the smell is noticible right away. Oh, and he picked up "ball" pretty soon after getting a Mets baseball from Rob's family. I swear, it seems like he's learning a new word almost every day.

Today went back to the Ren Faire. We got there around 10am. It was nice in the morning, but there were a lot of mosquitos. I'm going to be all red and puffy either tomorrow or the next day. It takes a few days to show up, but when the bites do show up they swell up to huge proportions (I'm allergic). The weather was nice in the morning, but started getting really hot when the sun came out and the place got all sorts of crowded. We walked all over the place and even took a rest break for Gabriel to nap. We watched the faries running around and the spider fairy spinning her web.

Later in the day I was able to meet up with an old friend of mine from high school, Vanessa. The last time we saw each other we were 18 or 19. I got to say hi to her sister and niece before they headed off. Adam (her hubby) wasn't there, but I'll get to meet up with him down the road. I got to meet her adorable (this kid is seriously cute) daughter Morgan. She got to meet Rob and Gabriel. We sat in the shade for awhile and talked. It was so nice to see her again and catch up. Since we crossed paths as we were about to leave and they had just arrived, we didn't get to spend as much time together as we would have liked. Since she lives in Chicago we should be able to easily meet up many more times. You have no idea how cool it was to see her again.

While we were waiting for Vanessa and her bunch in a shady area, this guy kept hitting on me in front of Rob! He started by kissing my hand when I went to shake it and then when Rob was off chasing Gabriel he scooted right next to me and tried to put his arm around me. I told him I was married and he said he didn't care. Um... that's nice, but I do. I've never seen Rob get jealous over another guy before, but he was today. Or maybe jealous isn't the right word. Either way, he was not happy about it and I really don't blame him. So bizarre.

We headed out of the Faire around 4ish. On the way home we made a pit stop at Mars Cheese Castle. We decided to grab some more summer sausage and cheese for dinner tonight. Tonight we had our meat and cheese fest for dinner and watched Gabriel's shows with him. I didn't find out about my Nana until about an hour ago. Right now I'm hoping to get to bed soon (Gabriel permitting) and working on the laundry.

My score on The Alcohol Knowledge Test:

Bourbon
(Congratulations! You're 113 proof, with specific scores in beer (40) , wine (66), and liquor (95).)

Screw all that namby-pamby chick stuff, you're going straight for the bottle and a shot glass! It'll take more than a few shots of Wild Turkey or 99 Bananas before you start seeing pink elephants. You know how to handle your alcohol, and yourself at parties.
